The Forrest Cross Country Team competed in its first meet on Aug. 31 at Sharp Springs Park in Smyrna. The girls placed third out of fourteen teams competing. Receiving individual awards for high placings were Thea Ledbetter, Kensie McKee, Heather Collins, Sarah Martinez and Quintin Watkins. Amazingly, Watkins lost a shoe in the first half mile; then went on to not only finish the race, but to receive a high placing. The team is coached by Jilly Russell and Shawn Jones...
