IRS audits city utility on tax-free sewer bonds (05/12/10)
The Internal Revenue Service is auditing Lewisburg's sale of $7 million worth of utility bonds sold in 2002 and refinanced twice, according to the utilities' superintendent and an IRS agent. Chart offers savings, but isn't made public (05/12/10)
A new organizational chart, said to offer $300,000 in savings for county schools, wasn't approved Monday when school board members said the plan would create new jobs, and there wasn't enough time to study it. Also that night, Schools Director Roy Dukes refused the Tribune's request for a copy of the chart that the board was discussing at its public meeting in the central office. Dukes reason? The board had not approved it...

Takeoff: Construction starts on landing pad (05/12/10)
Lewisburg and Marshall County construction officials started the groundwork Monday for a helicopter-landing pad at the Emergency Medical Service headquarters on Ellington Parkway at Spring Place Road. Tigers robbed on spectacular play (05/12/10)
Tigers win! Tigers win! Oh no, wait a minute! Did he catch that? Nobody will ever know if Giles County leftfielder Quenton Braden caught what might have been the greatest catch ever seen except Braden and four or five spectators outside of the left field fence at Joe George Field in Lewisburg. What would have been a season extending walk-off homerun by Marshall County's Koda Watkins turned into the miraculous second out of the bottom of the seventh inning for Giles County, who went on to win 8-6 in eight innings, ending the Tigers' season.
Tigerettes one win away from district title (05/12/10)
With a 2-0 win over East Hickman Tuesday night at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg, the Marshall County Tigerettes (30-8) are just one more victory away from winning a District 12-AA Tournament title they let slip away last year. MCHS head coach Holly Cook said after the game, "A win is a win. We didn't hit the ball like I wanted to and like we should have, but defensively we are playing great, so I think when we can punch a couple runs across and our defense is playing that way we will be ok."...
