The Forrest Lady Rockets found out the hard way just how good the Wayne County Lady Wildcats are when they left Waynesboro with a stinging 61-38 loss Monday night at the Wayne County Christmas Tournament. Pope skins Wildcats (High School Sports ~ 12/21/10)
Forrest sophomore Mark Pope had an incredible freshman season last year, but has struggled early on this year until Monday night when he broke out of his shooting slump in a big way with a season high 26 points, including 6 three-pointers as the Rockets held on to beat the host Wildcats 51-48 at the Wayne County Christmas Classic. Forrest head coach Davy McClaran said after the game, "We all know what kind of player Pope can be when he gets hot. We have just been waiting eleven games for him to get there. It was nice to see him finally get in the rhythm and knock some down."
