It has been a trying season for manager Dan Sweeney and his Farm Center team from Chapel Hill, but on Thursday all the hard work paid off at one time as the bats came alive, the gloves became sticky, and the young pitching staff held firm in an 11-4 run-rule win over A-Plus Collision Center. Landon Jones, Blake Leonard, and Tanner Garvin scored five runs and drove in six out the 2, 3 and 4 spots in the batting order with Garvin leading the way via a 3-4 performance at the plate. -

The Lewisburg Elks Lodge #1990 squad capped off a perfect season Friday night in the 2011 Babe Ruth finale as Matt Callendar and Jacob Graves tossed a combined no-hitter in a 9-1 five inning, run-rule win over Nichirin. Callendar, who would claim the leagues' pitching award later on in the evening hurled 3 2/3 innings of no-hit ball before 15-year old league MVP Jacob Graves came on in the fourth inning to finish the no-no.
