Tigerettes undefeated since milestone win (01/18/12)
On Dec. 22, 2011, the Marshall County High School Tigerettes recorded the 1,000th win in their storied program with a victory over McGavock at the East Literature Christmas Classic when they defeated the Lady Raiders 55-44, and they have not lost since. The four-time TSSAA state champions (1972, 1976, 1980, 2008) won their third straight District 12-AA game since the milestone victory in Nashville with the latest win coming Saturday night at the Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg in a 59-43 coast-to-coast win over Giles County, improving their all-time win/loss record to 1003-386 since 1963.
Lady Bulldogs pull away from Richland (01/18/12)
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs gained sole possession of first place in the District 11-A standings on Saturday night by defeating fellow co-leader Richland 56-46 in Lynnville to avenge a 40-37 overtime loss to the Lady Raiders earlier in the season. After trailing by as many as nine points in the second quarter, Cornersville (10-9, 6-1) rallied to tie the game at 28-28 at halftime before seizing a 39-33 advantage in the third period.
Tigers in tailspin (01/18/12)
fter winning eight out of their first nine games to start the season, the Marshall County Tigers have gone into a tailspin, losing five of seven, including a 55-41 defeat at the hands of archrival Giles County Saturday night in Lewisburg. An Aaron Hobbs driving bucket to the hoop on the Tigers' first possession gave MCHS their only lead of the ballgame at 2-0, and from there, it was pretty much a lackadaisical effort turned in by the Tigers as they suffered their second defeat to the Bobcats this season.
CMS Lady Bulldogs top Richland (01/18/12)
he Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (10-8) completed the season sweep of Richland on Thursday night by grinding out a 14-9 victory over the Lady Raiders at home with the help of a strong effort from forward Carson Coble. After beating Richland 29-17 on Nov. 14, the Lady Bulldogs held a 6-4 lead at halftime on Thursday before outscoring the Lady Raiders 8-5 over the final two quarters to notch their third straight win. Aided by a six-of-10 shooting performance from Coble, Cornersville finished with a 7-4 edge in field goals and out-rebounded Richland 24-20 overall.
Raiders edge CMS Bulldogs (01/18/12)
n Thursday night, the Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs missed a golden opportunity to pick up their second win of the season when they lost 28-23 at home to the Richland Raiders. Having defeated Richland 35-21 earlier in the season, Cornersville held a 19-15 lead early in the fourth quarter of Thursday's contest, but things went awry for CMS after that point, as the Raiders outscored the Bulldogs 13-4 the rest of the way to escape with the five-point victory. Although Cornersville held a 3-0 edge in three-pointers, Richland finished with a 11-10 advantage in field goals thanks to a five-of-six shooting performance in the fourth quarter.
Richland rolls past Bulldogs (01/18/12)
ichland recorded their eighth straight victory against the Cornersville Bulldogs (2-15, 0-7) on Saturday night when they throttled CHS 67-25 in Lynnville. The Raiders (9-8, 4-3) dominated the game from the start and forged a 34-7 lead in the first half before outscoring Cornersville 33-18 over the final two quarters to cruise to the 42-point victory.
