From staff reports Nine students enrolled in Marshall County schools on Wednesday modeled appropriate attire at Lewisburg Middle School so parents, teachers and students could see what clothing fits the school system's dress code. Sometimes it takes the right combination of talent and college to produce a pro player. For Marsalis Holloway, it was the combination of raw talent and Columbia State Community College that made him a 34th round pick for the Kansas City Royals. Holloway, a Dominion Christian high school graduate, originally signed with Darton College out of High School and he readily admits it was a mistake.

Columbia State Community College will tip off the 2012 basketball season with new interim head coaches for both the men's and women's teams. Brian Collins has arrived on campus as the men's interim head coach from Cumberland University in Lebanon where he was an assistant coach since 2009. Collins, a 2006 graduate of Belmont University in Nashville, was a 6th round draft into the National Basketball Developmental League, playing the 2006-2007 season for the Kouvot Bears, Finland's team.

On Wednesday night, the Marshall County Dusters (10-2-1) notched their fifth straight victory when they traveled to Williamson County and defeated the Franklin Generals 13-2 in five innings at Jim Warren Park in the first game of a doubleheader. Marshall County finished with a modest six hits against two Franklin pitchers, but showed patience at the plate and drew 10 walks. The Generals also hurt their pitching staff's cause by committing seven errors, which contributed to seven of the Dusters' 13 runs.
Marshall Medical Center rallies past IMI (06/15/12)
After knocking off first place Nichirin the previous evening, Marshall Medical Center moved back to the .500 mark by defeating Irving Materials incorporated 9-6 on Tuesday night at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field. Although they came into the game with an 0-6 record, Irving Materials Incorporated had MMC on the ropes early on and held a 4-2 lead through the first three and a half innings of play.

Aided by seven Elk errors, A-Plus Collision Center held a 4-1 lead through the first three and a half innings of play before crossing home plate five times in the bottom of the fourth to pull away for the eight-run victory.
