Longtime Marshall County High School Golf coach Gary Wells will be honored by the Marshall County, Forrest and Cornersville golf squads this season when they play for the 1st Annual Gary Wells Cup. MCHS head coach Brent Johns said, "When I first took over for coach Wells I knew I wanted to do something to honor him permanently. After many discussions with Brent Adcox at Cornersville and Becky Cheatham at Forest we all agreed that the Gary Wells Cup and County Championship was the best way to accomplish our goal."
Shelbyville defeats Tigers in Pigskin Preview (08/15/12)
On Friday night, the Marshall County Tigers got a chance to work out some wrinkles before the start of the 2012 football campaign when they dropped a 21-7 decision to the Shelbyville Golden Eagles in the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce Pigskin Preview at Preston Hopkins Field. With the contest lasting just one half, the Tigers hung tough early on and played the Golden Eagles to a 7-7 tie in the first quarter. Shelbyville, however, dominated the battle of the backups in the second period, as the Golden Eagle reserves outscored Marshall County's junior varsity 14-0 over the final 12 minutes to claim the two-touchdown win.
Bulldogs drub Zion Christian in Pigskin Preview (08/15/12)
he Cornersville Bulldogs showed some promising signs for the 2012 football season when they defeated the Zion Christian Academy Eagles 22-10 in the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce Pigskin Preview on Friday night at Preston Hopkins Field. With the contest lasting just one half, Zion Christian jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but the Bulldogs controlled the action after that point and scored touchdowns on three of their first four possessions to forge a 22-3 advantage midway through the second quarter before cruising to the 12-point victory.
MCHS golf team earns split at Hickman County (08/15/12)
Despite shooting their highest score of the young season, the Marshall County Tigers golf team came away with a split in a three-team match against the Hickman County Bulldogs and the East Hickman Eagles on Thursday afternoon at Centerville Municipal Golf Course. The host Bulldogs came out on top in the match and tallied a score of 175 over nine holes after taking the four best rounds out of six players.
