Chapel Hill announces paving projects

Lady Bulldogs smash Santa Fe after early-inning scare (High School Sports ~ 03/15/13)
After watching their middle school counterparts rout Bridgeforth earlier in the afternoon, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs recorded a blowout victory of their own on Tuesday night when they crushed District 11-A foe Santa Fe 17-2 in four innings at home in their season opener. The Lady Wildcats actually held a 2-1 lead at the end of the first inning, but things would quickly go downhill for Santa Fe after that point, as the Lady Bulldogs scored 16 runs over the next three innings to cruise to the mercy rule shortened victory. -
CMS Lady Bulldogs blast Bridgeforth (High School Sports ~ 03/15/13)
The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (4-4) enjoyed their most productive day at the plate this season when they pummeled the Bridgeforth Lady Bobcats 16-2 in five innings at home on Tuesday. Bridgeforth held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first inning, but it was all Cornersville after that point, as CMS exploded for 16 runs over the next three frames to coast to their fourth win of the year. -
Pitchers lead way as Bulldogs blank Santa Fe (High School Sports ~ 03/15/13)
Pitching carried the Cornersville Bulldogs to a win in their season opener on Tuesday night, as they defeated District 11-A foe Santa Fe 1-0 at home to record their 17th straight victory over the Wildcats. With senior pitcher and All-District performer Matt Callender currently nursing an injured shoulder, junior southpaw Jody Sullivan helped to pick up the slack on the mound for the Bulldogs. Sullivan notched seven strikeouts and scattered four hits and three walks in five scoreless innings of work to pick up the win. -
Tiger soccer team clips Zion Christian (High School Sports ~ 03/15/13)
Neither rain, nor wind, nor the cold of night could keep the Marshall County Tigers soccer team from getting the job done on the pitch, as they went on the road and defeated the Zion Christian Academy Eagles 2-1 in their season opener on Monday evening. Despite controlling the action for most of the contest and outshooting the Eagles 25-7 overall, the Tigers were locked in a 1-1 with Zion Christian at halftime. Marshall County then took a 2-1 lead early in the second half on a goal by junior striker Edwin Jaimes before thwarting a handful of scoring attempts by the Eagles over the final 30 minutes to take home the victory. -
Unbeaten LMS silences Lady Generals (High School Sports ~ 03/15/13)
The LMS Tigerettes remained undefeated on the season after squeezing out a 3-2 win over Spring Hill at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg Tuesday night. Sydne Solomon has been on fire for LMS this year at the plate and she continued her hot streak against the Lady Generals, going 3-3 with the big blow coming on a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning. -
Tigers blank Shelbyville (High School Sports ~ 03/15/13)
The Marshall County Tigers baseball team rode the arms of their pitching staff to a win on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Shelbyville Golden Eagles 3-0 on the road in their season opener. MCHS starting pitcher Dylan McKnight and relievers Matt Sharp and Jacob Graves silenced Shelbyville's bats for much of the evening and combined to throw a six-hit shutout. McKnight picked up the win on the mound after giving up three hits and a walk in three scoreless innings of work to go along with three strikeouts. Sharp then came on in relief of McKnight in the top of the fourth and allowed three hits over the next three frames before Graves allowed two walks in the seventh inning. -
Tigerettes trounce Columbia Central (High School Sports ~ 03/15/13)
Coming off an 8-1 win over Spring Hill the previous evening, the Marshall County Tigerettes cruised to another easy win on Wednesday when they defeated the Columbia Central Lady Lions 17-6 at home in five innings. The Tigerettes got off to a red hot start and raced out to a 12-0 lead through the first two innings of play. Columbia (0-2) then rallied and narrowed the gap to 12-6 in the top of the fifth inning, but Marshall County brought the mercy rule into effect by scoring five runs in the bottom half of the frame to run their record to 2-0. -
Forrest blasts Viqueens (High School Sports ~ 03/15/13)
The defending District 9-A champion Forrest Lady Rockets opened the new season in style Wednesday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, crushing the Community Viqueens 15-4 in a five-inning run-rule win. "I was proud of the fact that everybody got to play today," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. "I thought we hit the ball well and there have been days we struggled with pitching, so I was glad to see everyone get the bat on the ball."
