Pirates plunder Bulldogs (High School Sports ~ 03/27/13)
Cornersville baseball coach Ben Putman was unable to get the better of his alma mater on Thursday afternoon, as his previously undefeated Bulldog squad lost 12-1 at home to the Pirates of Rogers, AL. The Bulldogs had yielded an average of just 2.7 runs per game in their previous six contests, but were unable to slow down the Pirates on Thursday, as Rogers banged out 15 hits against two Cornersville hurlers to go along with four CHS errors. -
Richland blanks Lady Bulldogs (High School Sports ~ 03/27/13)
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs came up short in an important early season District 11-A clash when they dropped a 3-0 decision to defending conference champ Richland in Lynnville on Thursday night. Coming off a nine day layoff, the Lady Bulldogs (1-1, 0-1 District) were unable to solve Lady Raider starting pitcher Ashton Edwards and mustered just one hit and four walks against the hard throwing junior while striking out six times leaving eight runners on base overall. -
Collinwood clips Tigerettes (High School Sports ~ 03/27/13)
After posting a 1-2 record in pool play, the Marshall County Tigerettes made an early exit from the single elimination portion of the Middle Tennessee Softball Coaches Association tournament when they lost 3-2 in the first round to the Collinwood Trojanettes in five innings on Saturday afternoon. With the game approaching the hour and 15 minute time limit, Marshall County held a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Collinwood snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by scoring three runs in the frame on three hits and a MCHS error to pull out the dramatic victory. -
CMS Lady Bulldogs blow out Richland (High School Sports ~ 03/27/13)
The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (5-4) completed the season sweep of Richland by whipping the Lady Raiders 13-2 in five innings on Thursday night in Lynnville. Having defeated Richland 9-4 two weeks earlier, the Lady Bulldogs held a 4-2 lead through the first two innings of play before outscoring the Lady Raiders 9-0 over the final three frames to pull away for the 11-run victory. -
Tigers trounce Fairview (High School Sports ~ 03/27/13)
On Thursday, the Marshall County Tigers picked up their first win in District 12-AA play when they thrashed the Fairview Yellow Jackets 15-4 in five innings at home to snap a two-game losing streak. Having scored just a total of five runs in their three previous games, the Tigers (2-2, 1-2 District) finally broke out of their offensive slump and finished with 10 hits and four walks against two Fairview pitchers while the Yellow Jackets (4-2, 2-1 District) committed five errors in the contest. -
Tigerettes topple Richland (High School Sports ~ 03/27/13)
Coming off losses to Smyrna and Columbia the previous night, the Marshall County Tigerettes (5-3) righted the ship on Saturday morning when they defeated a previously unbeaten Richland Lady Raider squad 3-2 in their final pool game of the Middle Tennessee Softball Coaches Association T Tournament at Ridley Park in Columbia. After MCHS jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, Richland (4-1) plated two runs in the top of the fifth inning to tie the contest at 2-2. The Tigerettes then pushed across a run in the bottom of the sixth to seize a 3-2 advantage before holding the Lady Raiders scoreless in the top of the seven to claim their fifth victory of the season. -

Lady Rockets off to flying start (High School Sports ~ 03/27/13)
The Forrest Lady Rockets put aside two days of fun in the cool sun at Panama City Beach and got back down to business on Tuesday, sweeping South Walton High School 2-1 and 5-2 behind back-to-back solid pitching performances in the circle by Katie Warrick and Sara Jordan. Forrest also came up with some timely hitting, an improved defense, and a little bit of help by the Lady Seahawks in game two.
