CMS Lady Bulldogs rally past Bridgeforth (High School Sports ~ 03/29/13)
Although they had a tougher time than expected, the Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (6-4) found a way to record their third straight win on Tuesday night when they defeated the Bridgeforth Lady Bobcats 12-8 in Pulaski. Cornersville had defeated Bridgeforth 16-2 in their previous meeting on March 12, but found themselves in a big hole early on in Tuesday's contest, as the Lady Bobcats jumped out to an 8-3 lead through the first three innings of play before taking an 8-6 advantage into the top of the seventh. -
Lady Rockets end Florida trip with split (High School Sports ~ 03/29/13)
The Forrest Lady Rockets (6-1, 2-0) suffered their first loss of the season in a 4-2 setback to Trinity Christian Academy of Jacksonville in the second game of a twin bill Wednesday in Panama City, finishing their Florida trip with a 3-1 record. In game one, the Lady Rockets built a 5-0 first inning lead with Savannah Brothers coming up with a big two-run single to go along with an RBI base hit by Kiyoko Puca and a run-scoring double from Liz Daughrity. -
Cornersville's Looney no-hits Hampshire (High School Sports ~ 03/29/13)
After watching fellow pitcher Jody Sullivan toss a two-hit shutout the previous day, sophomore hurler David Looney managed to one up his teammate on Wednesday afternoon when he tossed a no-hitter to help lead the Cornersville Bulldogs to a 12-0 road win over the Hampshire Hawks in five innings. Looney mowed down Hampshire's lineup with relative ease and piled up 10 strikeouts in five innings of work while yielding three walks en route to throwing the first no-hitter of his CHS career. -
Big 1st propels Bulldogs past Hampshire (High School Sports ~ 03/29/13)
The Cornersville Bulldogs snapped a two-game losing streak on Tuesday night when they whipped the Hampshire Hawks 10-0 in five innings at home to remain undefeated in District 11-A play. Cornersville (7-2, 5-0 District) buried the Hawks (1-5, 0-2 District) early and scored all 10 of their runs in the bottom of the first inning, while Bulldog starting pitcher Jody Sullivan did not allow a Hampshire base runner to advance past first base en route to recording the shutout victory. -
Rockets split with Moore County (High School Sports ~ 03/29/13)
After a big 9-4 win at home over Moore County on Tuesday, the Forrest Rockets travelled to Lynchburg on Wednesday where the Raiders broke Forrest's five-game winning streak in a close 5-4 loss. The Rockets (6-3, 3-1) were tied 1-1 in the first inning at home on Tuesday before putting up four runs in the bottom of the third to take a four-run lead. Forrest tacked on a single run in the fourth and put the Raiders away with a three-run sixth.
