The Marshall County Tigerettes fell out of first place in the District 12-AA standings on Tuesday night after dropping a 4-2 decision to archrival Giles County at home. Having won the previous four meetings against the Lady Bobcats, which included a 9-7 victory on March 14, the Tigerettes (8-6, 6-3 District) appeared to be in good shape midway through Tuesday's contest and held a 2-0 lead through the first four innings of play. -
Tigers knock off Spring Hill (High School Sports ~ 04/12/13)
Coming off a humbling 8-1 loss to Lewis County the previous evening, the Marshall County Tigers turned in one of their best performances of the season on Tuesday night when they defeated District 12-AA rival Spring Hill to hand the Raiders their first loss of the year in conference play. After winning all three meetings against Spring Hill last season, MCHS (10-5, 6-3 District) was locked in a 1-1 tie with the Raiders through the first three and a half innings of play. The Tigers' bats then began to heat up after that point, as they tallied six runs over the next three frames while Marshall County starting pitcher Matt Sharp held the Raiders (12-5, 8-1 District) scoreless the rest of the way. -
Lady Bears down Forrest 6-2 (High School Sports ~ 04/12/13)
The Lady Rockets fell 6-2 Wednesday night to Davidson Academy in Chapel Hill as the infield error bug continued for Forrest, who have dropped two in a row for the first time this season. FMS Lady Rockets win regular season finale (High School Sports ~ 04/12/13)
The FMS Lady Rockets ended the regular season in style Wednesday afternoon, beating Community 8-2 to finish with a 16-1 record, going in to this weekend's Big South Conference Tournament, where they will hope to defend their title. Lainey Mays struck out a season-high 15 Viqueen hitters in a complete game effort, while giving up six hits and walking one. -
Bulldogs sweep Columbia Academy (High School Sports ~ 04/12/13)
After claiming a wild 18-11 extra inning victory over Columbia Academy the previous evening, the Cornersville Bulldogs completed the season sweep of CA on Tuesday afternoon when they defeated the Maury County private school 10-5 at home to remain undefeated in District 11-A play. Columbia Academy (2-9, 1-5 District) hung tough early on and battled CHS to a 3-3 tie through the first three and a half innings of play. -
