Forrest needed a win in Lynchburg Tuesday night to create a three-way tie for first place in District 9-A, but some costly errors in the field by the Lady Rockets and a strong effort in the circle by Moore County ace Kasey Harvey was the difference in a 3-0 loss to the Raiderettes. "You have to hit the ball and you can't make errors," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. On Wednesday, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs recorded their second straight lopsided victory when they crushed District 11-A foe Santa Fe 17-2 on the road in five innings to complete the season sweep of the Lady Wildcats. After scoring 20 runs in the their last outing against Columbia Central two days earlier, the Lady Bulldogs (5-4, 4-2 District) continued to pound the ball on Wednesday and cranked out 18 hits against Santa Fe starting pitcher Bailey Staggs and reliever Maddi Lusk to go along with four walks and three Lady Wildcat errors. -

The Cornersville Bulldogs' chances of claiming the top seed in the upcoming District 11-A tournament went up in smoke on Tuesday night when they lost 3-1 to the first place Richland Raiders at home. After defeating CHS 16-6 the previous evening, Richland (12-7, 10-0) was locked in a 0-0 tie with Cornersville through the first four innings of play before scoring three runs over the next three frames to seize a 3-0 lead. -

The Lewisburg Middle School Tigers ended the 2013 season on a positive note when they traveled to Columbia and defeated the E.A. Cox Cougars 10-5 in five innings to finish the year with an 11-1 record. After E.A. Cox jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, the Tigers outscored the Cougars 10-4 over the next four frames before the game was called due to darkness at the end of the fifth inning. -

The Forrest Lady Rockets showed some gritty resiliency Wednesday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, bouncing back from a tough loss at Moore County on Tuesday with an 8-0 shutout win versus Huntland. Tigers knock off Lincoln County (High School Sports ~ 04/19/13)
After defeating Cascade 2-0 four days earlier, the Marshall County Tigers (7-3-2) stuck another feather in their cap on Tuesday night when they beat the Lincoln County Falcons 2-0 at home. The two teams were locked in a 0-0 at the end of the first half, but the Tigers began to pick up their offensive pressure in the second stanza and outscored Lincoln County 2-0 over the final 40 minutes to claim their seventh victory of the season. -
