The Marshall County Tigerettes (23-8) overcame another roadblock in their quest to reach the title game of the District 12-AA tournament when they defeated the Lewis County Lady Panthers 3-1 at home on Wednesday night to advance to the loser's bracket final. Having swept the regular season series against Lewis County (18-10), the Tigerettes trailed 1-0 through the first two and a half innings of Wednesday's contest before senior third baseman Austyn Whaley belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to give Marshall County a 3-1 advantage. -

East Hickman knocked the Marshall County Tigerettes (23-9) out of the playoffs on Thursday afternoon, as the Lady Eagles defeated MCHS 7-1 in the loser's bracket final of the District 12-AA tournament at Reese Hambrick Field. After defeating Marshall County 7-5 in the second round of the tourney six days earlier, East Hickman (18-17-1) put the pressure on MCHS early and built a 5-0 lead through the first three innings of play. -

The Cornersville Bulldogs baseball team experienced a watershed moment on Thursday night when they claimed the program's first ever District tournament championship by pulling out a wild 14-13 extra inning victory over Columbia Academy in the title game at Richland High School. After winning their first ever District tournament title four days earlier, the Cornersville Bulldogs (18-13) made history once again on Monday night when they rallied to defeat the Collinwood Trojans 8-5 at home in the first round of the Region 6-A tourney. Having never won a Region tournament game, Cornersville appeared to be in dire straits early on and trailed 5-1 through the first one and a half innings of play. -
Lady Rockets get revenge, host Raiderettes for 5-A title (High School Sports ~ 05/15/13)
Two years ago in the Region 5-A semifinal, Houston County handed Forrest a tough 1-0 season-ending loss at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, causing the Lady Rockets to look at a ball from that game, hanging in or around the dugout all last season, before burying the yellow sphere somewhere under the turf in Chapel Hill after a huge 10-2 win over District 10-A's Jo Byrns in last year's region opener. On Monday, the Lady Rockets got their full revenge, outscoring the Lady Irish from Erin 9-7 to advance to the Region 5-A championship on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. when they host D9-A foe Moore County, who won a 3-1 thriller at East Robertson. -
Rockets precise in region win (High School Sports ~ 05/15/13)
The Forrest Rockets turned in an all-around solid effort Monday night at White House-Heritage, shutting out the Patriots 4-0 in the Region 5-A opener. Logan Hollingsworth was superb on the mound in the complete game shutout, scattering six hits, while striking out two and walking two Pats hitters. "What Logan did is the definition of pitching," said Forrest head coach Chris Parker. "He threw just 63 pitches in the complete game."
