The Elks (7-1, 6-1) tightened their grip on the top spot in the Marshall County Babe Ruth League standings by defeating second place Nichirin 7-6 in five innings on Tuesday night at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Park. A-Plus Collision Center (3-5, 2-5) snapped a four-game losing streak on Tuesday night when they thumped Marshall Medical Center 13-2 in four innings at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Park. After posting a 2-0 record at the rain shortened Sevierville Classic last weekend, the Marshall County Dusters had their modest two-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night when they lost 8-4 to the Shelbyville Golden Eagles on the road. Playing nine innings instead of the usual seven, the Dusters (4-5) dug themselves an early hole and trailed 6-1 through the first five frames. -

On Tuesday, Bobcats traveled down from the Music City into Chapel Hill to take on the hometown Mudcats for a double-header in a Field and Stream matchup that ended with John Overton High School sweeping the Forrest baseball summer squad. The Middle Tennessee Mudcats' bats were silent for most of the night, managing just 9 hits in the 2-1, 6-4 twin bill setback. -
