Thunder fall to Lawrence County in title game (High School Sports ~ 07/12/13)
Having already clinched a spot in the 15-year old Babe Ruth State tournament, the Marshall County Thunder were forced to settle for second place in the District 8 tourney when they lost 12-2 to Lawrence County in five innings on Tuesday night at Sam Davis Park. After defeating Marshall County 11-1 earlier in the tournament, Lawrence County once again silenced the Thunder's bats, as starting pitcher Bryce Clifft and reliever Colby Deuchelle combined to toss a one-hitter. Clifft picked up the victory on the mound and allowed two runs in four plus innings of work on one hit and four walks while recording four strikeouts. Deuchelle then replaced Clifft on the hill and yielded one walk over one scoreless inning to go along with two strikeouts. -
Lawrence Co. silences Thunder (High School Sports ~ 07/12/13)
On Monday night, the Marshall County Thunder fell into the loser's bracket of the 15-year old Babe Ruth District tournament after losing 11-1 to Lawrence County in five innings at Sam Davis Park in the second round of the tourney. Although he issued five walks and hit a batter, Lawrence County starting pitcher Austin Odom proved to be effectively wild and limited Marshall County to just one hit in the contest. -
Thunder edges Giles County to reach championship round (High School Sports ~ 07/12/13)
The Marshall County Thunder advanced to the championship round of the 15-year old Babe Ruth District 8 tournament by defeating tourney host Giles County 7-6 on Tuesday night at Sam Davis Park. After the two teams battled to a 5-5 tie through the first five innings of play, the Thunder scored two runs in the top of the sixth to seize a 7-5 lead before staving off a Giles County rally attempt in the bottom of the seventh. With their win over Giles County, Marshall County also qualified for the Babe Ruth State tournament, which will be held in Lawrenceburg next week. -
Dunn chosen as L'burg's next city manager

Marshall County heads for title tilt (High School Sports ~ 07/12/13)
The Marshall County 14U all-stars took down Lawrenceburg 11-4 Tuesday night at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Field in Lewisburg, making it two wins in row to rule the winner's bracket of the District 8 Tournament. Will Johnson picked up the win on the hill for manager Mike Bailey's squad, tossing five solid innings of six-hit ball. Johnson gave up zero earned runs, while striking out six and walking just one Lawrenceburg batter. Ben Taylor banged out two hits, including the game changing two-run bases-loaded double as part of Marshall County's huge eight-run third inning. -
