The short-handed Marshall County Tigers teed off the 2013-2014 prep sports season Tuesday at Saddle Creek Golf Club in Lewisburg, finishing second in a three-battle with Lincoln County and Community. Manchester eliminates Thunder from State tournament (High School Sports ~ 07/26/13)
On Monday night, the Marshall County Thunder were eliminated from the 15-year old Babe Ruth State tournament when they dropped a heartbreaking 5-4 decision to Manchester at Lawrence County High School in the third round of the loser's bracket. The Thunder held a 4-2 lead through the first five innings of play, but Manchester came storming back in the top of the sixth and pushed across three runs in the frame to seize a 5-4 advantage. -
Eagleville takes 2 from Cornersville (High School Sports ~ 07/26/13)
Eagleville got the better of Cornersville on the links this past Tuesday afternoon, as they won both the boys and girls matches at Champions Run Golf Course in the season opener for both teams. Taking the four best rounds from six players, the Eagles posted a team score of 190 after playing the front nine holes at Champions Run, while the Bulldogs finished 11 shots back with a 201. Dakota Beech recorded the lowest score of the day and led Eagleville with a 40. Isaiah Haggard followed Beech with a 49, while Torie Fusco and John Pew tallied a 50 and a 51 respectively. -
