Rockets open season shorthanded as Bulldogs win (High School Sports ~ 07/31/13)
The Forrest Rocket golf squad opened the season Thursday at Henry Horton State Park with just two players due to prior commitments from the other team members. Rockets Sophomores Gary Lukonen and Hawken King teed it up for the Rockets and Lukonen stared the campaign off in style, shooting an even-par round of 36 at the Buford Ellington tract. -
Tigers prepare for 2013 season (High School Sports ~ 07/31/13)
The Marshall County Tigers football team strapped on the pads for the first time on Monday morning when they held a brisk two-hour practice to kick off the start of two-a-days. After MCHS finished with a 5-6 record last season and reached the first round of the Class 4A playoffs, second-year head coach Aaron Pitts believes his players should have a better grasp of his offensive and defensive schemes as they prepare for the 2013 campaign. -
MGA three-club only for the brave (Community Sports ~ 07/31/13)
Only 13 brave MGA golfers signed up to play in the 2nd Annual Three-Club Tournament on Sunday at Saddle Creek Golf Club and in the end, the team of Travis Darnell, Jason Lopes, and Roger Harwell prevailed with a slick eight-under score. Don Wilson was added as the fourth player on the team in a blind draw before the event began.
