Community edges Bulldogs on links (High School Sports ~ 08/02/13)
Despite recording their best score of the young season, the Cornersville Bulldogs golf team saw their record fall to 2-2 on Tuesday afternoon when they suffered a narrow four-stroke loss to the Community Vikings at the Lewisburg Recreation Center. The Lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, were unable to complete their match against Community due to lightning. Having dropped a 202-204 decision to Cornersville last week, the Vikings finished with a team score of 193 over nine holes to take home the victory in Tuesday's match after taking the four best rounds from six players, while the Bulldogs tallied a 197. -
Rockets win by forfeit; girls lose (High School Sports ~ 08/02/13)
The Forrest Rockets traveled to Fayetteville Country Club on Monday and came away with a forfeit over the Tigers, who had only one player show up. It was still a good showing for the Rockets, who shot 188 as a team. Gary Lukonen continued his fine early season play, shooting a two-over par 37 as the sophomore managed seven pars and two bogies during his round. -
Tigers edge Spring Hill, blast Eagles (High School Sports ~ 08/02/13)
The Marshall County Tigers found home cooking to be a delight Tuesday at Saddle Creek Golf Club, edging Spring Hill 173-177 at their home course in Lewisburg. In a balanced attack, Brooks Leftwich led the charge with a 42 on the front nine holes with Austin Blade carding a 43, while Zach Smith and Kasey Beard both signed for identical 44s. -
Rockets getting ready to rumble (High School Sports ~ 08/02/13)
The Forrest Rockets have had enough of hitting each other in two-a-day practices over the summer. First year head coach Brian Coleman said, "The guys have been working hard and we are looking forward to playing somebody else to see what we got. The guys are just like us, they want to see what they got and want to hit somebody else." Coleman will take his squad to Bethel University Friday for the team's initial scrimmage of the season versus Dresden as the team prepares for the Aug. 23 season opener at "The Rock" against Collinwood. -
Snell takes state championship for assistant pros (Local News ~ 08/02/13)
Franklin, TN -- Kevin Snell of Eagleville, TN won the National Car Rental Tennessee PGA Assistant Championship presented by Cobra Puma Golf Tuesday, July 30 at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, TN. "This is probably as well as I've played all year for two rounds put together", said Snell, the assistant at Henry Horton State Park. "Holston Hills is one of my favorite courses to come play. I'm excited to go play in the Assistant National Championship down in Florida. I'd like to thank all the sponsors for this year's event as well as Holston Hills for hosting the championship." -

Scott Braden said he was "a white male in his 20s." No arrests have been made, and Braden is not releasing any details of the crime...
