The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs did everything but put the ball in the back of the net on Thursday evening, as they had to settle for a 0-0 tie on the road with new District 11-A-AA foe Culleoka because of a stellar performance from Lady Warrior goaltender Ashlind James. Having crushed Culleoka 12-0 in their lone meeting last season, the Lady Bulldogs (0-2-1, 0-1-1 District) completely controlled the action in Thursday's contest and outshot the Lady Warriors 25-5 overall, including a 15-3 advantage in the second half. -

The Raiders had narrowly defeated Cornersville 39-36 last year, but Moore County imposed their will on the inexperienced Bulldogs (1-1) on Friday, as they built a 22-0 lead in the first half before tacking on two more touchdowns over the final two quarters to record their third straight win against CHS. Using a punishing ground attack, the Raiders methodically wore down Cornersville's defense and racked up 397 yards of total offense overall, which included 348 yards rushing on 63 carries. -

Rocket rally falls short (High School Sports ~ 09/04/13)
The Forrest Rockets came tantalizingly close to pulling off a great comeback win over Cascade at "The Rock" in Chapel Hill Friday night, but their lone turnover of the night was a heartbreaker, fumbling at the four-yard line with one minute remaining in the ballgame to hand the Champions a 21-19 victory. "We drove the ball down the field very well and got excited and just turned the football over there at the end, we just have to keep our composure and keep working," said Forrest head coach Brian Coleman. "That was our first turnover of the night, but it was very costly. We had the field goal team ready and we were just trying to get in position."
