Thefts and vandalism reported Between 1 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 15, someone entered a home on Cornersville Highway and stole jewelry and old coins worth a total of $16,325. On Oct. 20, thieves broke into a home on Greenwood Street through a bedroom window and took a 19-inch Vizio TV and a 32-inch Samsung TV. Rockets mauled by Panthers in season opener (High School Sports ~ 10/23/13)
The Forrest Rockets had the tough task of taking on a talented E.O. Coffman squad to begin the season Friday night in Lawrenceburg and the host Panthers pounced on the visitors for an easy 54-21 win. E.O. Coffman jumped out to an insurmountable 17-0 lead to begin the contest before Dylan Wyatt finally got the Rockets in the scoring column with one minute to go in the first period. -
Lady Panthers spoil FMS opener (High School Sports ~ 10/23/13)
The FMS Lady Rockets tipped-off the 2013 basketball season on Friday, taking to the hardwood at E.O. Coffman in Lawrenceburg against the host Lady Panthers, who won the season opener 34-16. Forrest looked a little rusty in their first game, shooting a measly 22 percent from the field in an 8-36 effort. The Lady Rockets were also shutout at the free throw line and three-point land, going 0-3 from the charity stripe and 0-7 from downtown. -
FMS Rockets edge Ethridge in Coffman tourney (High School Sports ~ 10/23/13)
After falling to tourney host E.O. Coffman the previous night, the Forrest Rockets (1-2) salvaged a third place finish in the Coffman Tip-Off Tournament by defeating the Ethridge Bulldogs 40-35 in the consolation finals on Saturday afternoon. Forrest held a 21-19 lead at the end of the first half before opening up a 34-25 advantage early in the fourth quarter. Ethridge (1-2) then rallied to tie the game at 35-35 in the waning moments of the contest, but the Rockets outscored the Bulldogs 5-0 over the final :17 thanks to some clutch free throw shooting from Ty Hengesback and Dylan Jones to claim their first win of the season. -
FMS girls score 1st win (High School Sports ~ 10/23/13)
he Forrest Middle School Lady Rockets picked up their first win of the young season on Saturday afternoon when they defeated the New Prospect Lady Tigers 22-16 in the consolation finals of the Coffman Tip-off Tournament at E.O. Coffman Middle School. Forrest (1-1) held the upper hand throughout the contest and built an 11-6 lead in the first half before opening up a 18-8 advantage at the end of the third quarter. -
CPA easily tames Tigers (High School Sports ~ 10/23/13)
Christ Presbyterian Academy proved to be as good as advertised, as the undefeated Lions whipped the Marshall County Tigers 45-16 at Preston Hopkins Field on Friday night to hand MCHS their third straight loss. Ranked number one in the Class 3A AP poll, the Lions (9-0, 4-0 District) moved in for the kill early and scored touchdowns on their first four possessions en route to building a 31-0 halftime lead. CPA then opened up a 38-0 advantage at the end of the third quarter before coasting to the 29-point victory.
