It is always tough going to Lynchburg to play Moore County, but the FMS Rockets rallied from an early first half deficit to beat the Raiders 47-30 in the Duck River Valley Conference opener for both clubs. The Rockets fell behind 9-5 in the first quarter before an Alex Huey three-bomb cut the Moore County lead to a single point at 9-8, but the Raiders finished the period with a 6-2 run to take a 15-10 lead after the first six minutes. -

The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldog turned in a spirited effort in their first game under new coach Peyton Newton, but came up short on the scoreboard, as they dropped a hard fought 30-26 decision to the Bridgeforth Lady Bobcats on Tuesday night in Pulaski. Having defeated CMS handily twice last season, the Lady Bobcats appeared headed for another easy victory on Tuesday after building a 20-6 lead early in the third quarter. -

On Tuesday night, the Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs were unable to overcome a poor shooting performance, as they suffered a 21-11 road loss to the Bridgeforth Bobcats in their season opener. After scoring just five points against Bridgeforth the last time they ventured down to Pulaski a year ago, Cornersville once again saw their offense go ice cold on Tuesday and trailed 11-0 at the end of the first half. -

The FMS Lady Rockets displayed some early season resiliency, coming back from a lopsided defeat at Moore County on Monday to put the clamps on Westwood 33-16 Tuesday night in their home opener in Chapel Hill. "I am proud of the girls, they battled and fought hard tonight," said FMS head coach Rhea Webb. "We told them today's a new day, tonight's a new game and they did not let last night affect them and they came out ready to play tonight." -
FMS Rockets win 3rd straight (High School Sports ~ 10/25/13)
The FMS Rockets made it three wins in row to continue their early season hot streak, holding off a late Westwood comeback to win 33-26 in Tuesday night's home opener. "A win always feels good, rather in a row or not, but this has been a nice run and the boys seem to be enjoying it," said FMS head coach Randy Toombs. Forrest also seems to enjoy starting from behind as Westwood led 10-5 after the first quarter before the hometown Rockets turned the table on their namesakes, outscoring the Manchester squad 13-2 in the second period.
