On Thursday night, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes (2-2) suffered their second straight loss when they dropped a heartbreaking 31-30 decision to Fayetteville Middle School at home. Lewisburg held a 25-23 lead midway through the fourth quarter, but Fayetteville (6-6) rattled off eight straight points to seize a 31-25 advantage with 1:14 left before withstanding a late rally attempt by the Tigerettes to escape with the one-point win. -

After a big opening night blowout win at Columbia Academy, the Forrest Lady Rockets took to the home court Saturday night in a Hall of Champions match-up versus Wayne County and it was the Lady Wildcats who prevailed 53-46. The Lewisburg Middle School Tigers evened their record at 2-2 by whipping Fayetteville Middle School 44-26 on Thursday night at home. Rockets steal win over Irish (High School Sports ~ 11/20/13)
The Forrest Rockets were winless at 0-2 after an early morning 54-30 loss to Pope John Paul II Saturday before posting their first victory of the season when they ran off to a big 55-36 triumph over Houston County to cap off boys action in the Hall of Champions Day in Chapel Hill. "We played pretty good most of the night," said Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs. Medley selected to Under Armour All-America Game (High School Sports ~ 11/20/13)
Marshall County High School senior kicker Aaron Medley added another honor to his growing list of accolades when he was recently selected to play in the 2014 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game. With the entire MCHS student body looking on, Medley was presented with his jersey last Wednesday morning by Under Armour All-America Game Campaign Coordinator Nick Johnson during an assembly in Dottie Kelso Gymnasium. Only 90 players are invited to participate in the Under Armour All-America Game out of the roughly two million individuals that play high school football each year. -

The Forrest Rockets dug themselves an early 13-0 hole Friday night at Lindon Martin Memorial Stadium in Adamsville and just could not find a way out, falling 26-7 to the Cardinals in the second round of the TSSAA Class 2A playoffs. After making a surprisingly early exit from the playoffs last season, the Marshall County Tigers are out to prove that postseason disappointment was an aberration. Marshall County finished third in the District 12-AA standings during the regular season, but were knocked out of the District tournament in the first round when they dropped a 57-47 decision to sixth seeded Summit. It marked the first time in seven years that the Tigers had failed to advance to the Region tournament despite posting a respectable 15-12 record. -
Tigerettes set for new challenges (High School Sports ~ 11/20/13)
While the Marshall County Tigerettes have just one upperclassman on their roster this season due to graduation and defections, fourth-year coach David Junkins is hoping some younger players will be able to fill the breach. Last season, the Tigerettes finished third in the District 12-AA standings, but had a brief stay in the playoffs after dropping a heartbreaking 41-40 decision to sixth seeded Summit in the first round of the conference tournament. After losing three starters from last year's squad, including leading scorer Marissa Lyttle, guards Allison Hargrove (Sr.) and Kiya Morris (Soph.) will have to shoulder a greater offensive load this season. -

The event was an absolute slugfest as Putnam and Skylar Marlar raced wheel-to-wheel for a majority of the second-half of the event, trading the lead officially on five different occasions, but unofficially many more times than that around the ultra-racy ¼ mile arena.
