Although the Cornersville Bulldogs (0-2) played well for nearly three quarters, they were unable to finish the job against Eagleville (1-2), as CHS dropped a 53-37 decision to the Eagles at home on Monday night. After the two teams battled to a 19-19 tie in the first half, the Bulldogs opened up a 32-29 lead late in the third quarter. Eagleville, however, caught fire offensively down the stretch and outscored Cornersville 24-5 over the final 9:25 of the contest to claim the 16-point victory. -
Tigerettes stumble in opening loss (High School Sports ~ 11/22/13)
The Marshall County Tigerettes played well for about 10 minutes in Monday night's season opener in Lewisburg before succumbing 60-32 versus a tough Lincoln County squad. "When we were setting up the schedule this year we knew Lincoln County was going to be a tough game," said MCHS head coach David Junkins. With their offense sputtering for most of the evening, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (2-0) had to rely on their defense to grind out a victory on Monday night, as they defeated the Eagleville Lady Eagles 40-36 at home. The Lady Bulldogs held a 14-12 lead at the end of the first half prior to opening up a 32-24 advantage midway through the fourth quarter. Cornersville then had to stave off a frantic rally by Eagleville (1-2) that saw the Lady Eagles pull within one point in the final minute of the contest before escaping with the four-point victory. -
Tigers topple Falcons in opener (High School Sports ~ 11/22/13)
The Marshall County Tigers started the 2013-2014 campaign with a roar Monday night, taking down Lincoln County 53-44 at the Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg. "It's always nice to open up the season with a win," said MCHS head coach Adrian Wilson. "Our guys play so hard and playing hard helped us overcome a rusty performance. We are behind since most of our guys have been in football." The Tigers never trailed in the contest thanks to a fast start, but they had to hold back a third quarter comeback by the Falcons before putting the game away in the fourth quarter. -

Rockets pull away from Bulldogs (High School Sports ~ 11/22/13)
The Forrest Rockets notched their second straight win on Tuesday night by going on the road and defeating county rival Cornersville 49-29. Forrest (2-2) had trouble shaking the Bulldogs (0-3) in the first half and held just a 23-20 lead late in the second quarter. The Rockets then began to distance themselves from CHS after that point and closed the first half with a 7-1 run to open up a 30-21 lead at the break before outscoring Cornersville 19-8 over the final two quarters to pull away for the 20-point win. -
Lady Rockets race past Cornersville (High School Sports ~ 11/22/13)
After suffering a 53-46 loss to Wayne County three days earlier, the Forrest Lady Rockets (2-1) vented their frustrations on county rival Cornersville on Tuesday night when they went on the road and throttled the Lady Bulldogs 58-25 to hand CHS their first defeat of the season. The two teams split the season series last year, but the Lady Bulldogs disposed of Cornersville (2-1) in surprisingly easy fashion this time around and forged a 43-12 lead in the first half before outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 15-13 over the final two quarters to cruise to the 33-point win.
