Local students go to special kind of CAMP

CMS Lady Bulldogs rally past New Prospect (High School Sports ~ 12/06/13)
The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (8-4) completed the season sweep of New Prospect on Monday night by defeating the Lady Tigers 25-23 at home. CMS had beaten New Prospect 32-22 in their previous encounter on Oct. 24, but the Lady Tigers appeared they might even the score in Monday's contest after building a 21-16 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Lady Bulldogs, however, stepped up their play down the stretch and outscored New Prospect 9-2 the rest of the way to escape with the two-point victory. -
CMS Bulldogs outlast New Prospect (High School Sports ~ 12/06/13)
On Monday night, the Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs (8-4) extended their current winning streak to four games by pulling out a thrilling 37-36 overtime victory over the New Prospect Tigers at home. New Prospect had defeated CMS 39-19 in their previous encounter on Oct. 24, but the Bulldogs stood their ground in Monday's contest and held a 16-15 lead at halftime prior to opening up a 26-20 advantage at the end of the third quarter. -
LMS takes split with Fayetteville (High School Sports ~ 12/06/13)
After losing by one-point to Fayetteville Middle School in their previous two meetings, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes suffered another heartbreaking loss to FMS on Monday night when they dropped a 18-17 decision on the road. The Tigers, meanwhile, completed the season sweep of Fayetteville by whipping FMS 48-27 in the second game of the evening. -
Rockets edge Eagles (High School Sports ~ 12/06/13)
The Forrest Rockets fought hard and battled throughout their district opener at Eagleville before prevailing in crunch time to garner a tight 46-42 triumph over the Eagles. Lucas Pruitt tallied a double-double for the Rockets, scoring a game high 12 points, while pulling down 11 rebounds, including his biggest board of the night on a rebound and put-back with 1:37 remaining in the contest, putting Forrest in the lead for good. -
FMS girls reach World semifinals (High School Sports ~ 12/06/13)
It was a tale of two halves for the FMS Lady Rockets in Wednesday night's first round match-up in the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament in Chapel Hill versus Westwood as Forrest scored a measly 12 points in an ugly first half before rounding back in to form in the second to win going away 37-16. "I was a little nervous," said FMS head coach Rhea Webb. "But, I knew they had it in them and if they started playing as a team, I knew they would come back." -
