The Cornersville Bulldogs (4-11, 2-4 District) snapped a four-game losing streak on Monday night by going on the road and defeating the Hampshire Hawks 87-81. Cornersville appeared they would win the game in regulation after opening up a 71-66 lead with :33 left in the fourth quarter, but the Hawks (7-7, 3-3 District) closed the stanza with a 6-1 run to send the game into overtime tied at 72-72. -

Lady Bulldogs beat Columbia Academy (High School Sports ~ 01/17/14)
After defeating Columbia Academy 56-38 just three days earlier, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs completed the season sweep of the Maury County private school on Tuesday when they beat CA 47-36 at home. Similar to their previous encounter, the Lady Bulldogs (10-6, 6-1) took control of the contest early and built a 24-13 lead in the first half. Cornersville then opened up a 43-27 advantage midway through the fourth quarter before claiming the 11-point victory. -

The Forrest Rocket wrestling squad had a very busy week, beginning with a stellar third place finish at the Creekwood Invitational on Saturday. "We wrestled well in the Creek Wood Tournament," said Forrest head coach Kyle Stacey. "There were several teams from our region at this tournament; however, everyone has a tendency to pick up their game around tournament time." The Rockets accumulated 158 team points in the event, while second place Summit tallied 174.50 and the Independence Eagles took home top honors, posting a 187.50 score. -

David Roberts, an eighth grader at LMS was recently awarded an East Bay Youth Football All-American tag, competing on the East squad in an ESPN 3 broadcasted game at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, TX on Jan. 5. Roberts and his parents spent the first week of the New Year in San Antonio, practicing with his new team that included top-notch players from all over the United States. "We are more than pleased with the experience David gained," said his father David. "He was playing with and against the top players in the country."
