CPA bulldozes past Marshall County (High School Sports ~ 01/24/14)
After winning their four previous conference games by an average of 45.5 points, Christ Presbyterian Academy steamrolled another District 12-AA foe on Tuesday night when they thumped the Marshall County Tigers 82-40 in Lewisburg. Boasting five players on their roster that have either signed or received Division I scholarship offers in various sports, the Lions (21-1, 5-0 District) simply had too much firepower for MCHS (12-6, 3-1 District) and built a 45-28 lead in the first half before outscoring the Tigers 37-12 over the final two quarters to claim the 42-point victory. -
Raiderettes top Forrest in overtime (High School Sports ~ 01/24/14)
In three weeks, the Lady Rockets have gone from atop District 9-A into a freefall, losing four out of their last five district games with the latest setback coming at the hands of Moore County when they dealt Forrest a 55-53 overtime loss in Chapel Hill Tuesday night. With the setback, Forrest (15-9, 5-4) dropped to fourth place in the league standings, while the Raiderettes (15-9, 6-3) took over the third spot. -
Rockets beat Raiders, stay in 9-A hunt (High School Sports ~ 01/24/14)
The Forrest Rockets came back from a slow start to win going away 51-39 over Moore County Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, remaining in the hunt for a top-two seed in the upcoming District 9-A Tournament. Jacob Daughrity turned in his best offensive performance of the season, pouring in a game high 23 points, including several drives to the hoop that paid dividends in a 12-14 night from the free throw line for the senior guard. -
Tigerettes knock off CPA (High School Sports ~ 01/24/14)
The Marshall County Tigerettes picked up big win on Tuesday night when they defeated two-time defending Class AA state champ Christ Presbyterian Academy 45-41. Marshall County (5-14, 2-2 District) played some of their best basketball of the season in the first half and built a 28-17 lead through the first two quarters of play. CPA (9-9, 3-2 District) rallied to tie the game at 34-34 with 5:01 left in the fourth period, but the Tigerettes managed to right the ship down the stretch and outscored the Lady Lions 11-7 the rest of the way to claim their second straight victory. -
