Needing a win to solidify their hold on second place in the District 12-AA standings, Marshall County held a 32-26 lead at halftime before taking a 46-45 advantage into the fourth quarter. -

Coming off a humbling 41-38 loss to Fayetteville the previous evening, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (12-8, 8-2 District) got back on track by going on the road and defeating Mt. Pleasant 43-27 on Friday night to complete the season sweep of the Lady Tigers. The Bulldogs (5-15, 3-7 District), meanwhile, suffered their second straight loss after dropping a 64-45 decision to Mt. Pleasant (14-5, 9-1 District) in the nightcap. -

The Forrest Rockets travelled to Unionville Friday night with expectations of moving up in the District 9-A standings, but Community would not allow even a sniff of an upset by the Chapel Hill boys as they went coast-to-coast in a 65-43 win. "We just got out of what we have been doing, we settled for too many jump shots and did not look to get the ball inside enough early and then we had to take jump shots because we got down," said Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs. "The bottom line was we were not the same team defensively and all the guys agreed in the locker room." -
Rockets fall to Eagles in region duals (High School Sports ~ 01/29/14)
On Thursday, the top-seeded Forrest Rockets (20-4) were looking to qualify for the state dual tournament for the first time in school history, but host Eagleville had other ideas when they came back from a 33-12 deficit to beat the Rockets. The defending Region 7 A/AA champion Eagles went on to win the dual crown, soaring past Fairview 60-21 in the finals to earn a berth in the state tournament. -
LMS Tigers clip Grassland (High School Sports ~ 01/29/14)
On Saturday, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (11-6) kept their season alive by pulling out a thrilling 39-37 victory over the Grassland Generals in the semifinals of the James C. Haile Invitational Tournament at Middle Tennessee Christian School. LMS appeared they might force the Generals to surrender early on and held an 18-6 lead in the second quarter, but Grassland (8-2) rallied their forces and bombarded Lewisburg with a 25-0 run to seize a 31-18 advantage with 5:51 left in the fourth period.
