The Fayetteville Tigers were on their game Tuesday night in Chapel Hill as they finished off the regular season sweep over Forrest via a 57-43 win. "You can't match baskets with them and our defense just wasn't where we wanted it tonight," said Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs. "They drove the lanes well and we didn't contest the shots as well as we needed to. Murfreesboro Central Magnet (MCM) completed the sweep of the season series against the Marshall County Tigerettes (5-16) by defeating MCHS 61-39 in Lewisburg on Monday night. The Marshall County Tigers (13-7) snapped a two-game losing streak on Monday night when they defeated Murfreesboro Central Magnet 65-44 at home to complete the sweep of the regular season series Having defeated MCM 68-34 in their previous encounter on Jan. 11, the Tigers once again had little trouble disposing of Murfreesboro Central Magnet (2-20) and led by as many as 18 points in the first half prior to taking a 25-15 lead into the break. Marshall County then opened up a 55-26 advantage midway through the fourth quarter before coasting to the 21-point win. -

The Forrest Lady Rockets, coming off a pair of disappointing back-to-back district losses, burned some frustration Tuesday night in Chapel Hill when they demolished Fayetteville 59-14. Fayetteville came into the contest winless in league play, while Forrest was trying not to overlook the Lady Tigers. "We prepared for last night like we do every game and I always tell them the most important game of season is the next game," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "We had seen where Fayetteville had been playing other teams in the district close for three quarters, and had recently beat Cornersville, so we did not overlook them." -
Bulldogs subdue Wildcats, get back for earlier loss (High School Sports ~ 01/31/14)
The Cornersville Bulldogs kept themselves in the running for a possible home game in the first round of the District 11-A tournament when they defeated fourth place Santa Fe 53-45 on Tuesday night at home to snap an 11-game losing streak against the Wildcats. Having dropped a gut wrenching 60-59 decision to Santa Fe in their last meeting on Jan. 3, the Bulldogs (6-15, 4-7 District) seemed bent on evening the score against the Wildcats (12-11, 5-6 District) on Tuesday and built a 25-20 lead in the first half before opening up a 40-31 advantage at the end of the third quarter. -
Lady Bulldogs edge Santa Fe (High School Sports ~ 01/31/14)
On Tuesday night, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs clinched the second seed in the upcoming District 11-A tournament by defeating third place Santa Fe 44-42 at home to complete the season sweep of the Lady Wildcats. CHS (13-8, 9-2 District) trailed 24-19 at halftime before using a 22-12 run to seize a 41-36 lead with 3:10 left in the fourth quarter.
