It appears that pitching will be a strong suit for the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs softball team this season, as CHS yielded a total of just three runs in four games on Saturday en route to posting a 3-0-1 record at the Lady Lion Play Day in Columbia. The Lady Bulldogs opened the day by defeating the Zion Christian Lady Eagles 1-0 before beating the Lincoln County Lady Falcons 4-1. After battling the Creek Wood Lady Red Hawks to a 2-2 tie, Cornersville ended the day by whipping the Culleoka Lady Warriors 7-0. -

The Marshall County Tigerettes softball team began to gear up for the 2014 season on Saturday when they traveled to Ridley Park in Columbia and posted a 2-2 record at the Lady Lion Play Day. The FMS Lady Rockets jumped out quick and never looked back in a 7-4 win over visiting Cascade Friday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, remaining unbeaten on the season. "It was a good night and again, it was a good team effort," said FMS head coach Daniella Hooper. "Multiple girls were coming in as substitutes and we put some girls in some different defensive positions and they did well."
