Tigers top Lincoln County (High School Sports ~ 03/19/14)
The Marshall County Tigers ran their record to 3-0 on Saturday by defeating the Lincoln County Falcons 7-3 in Fayetteville. Lincoln County (3-1) held a 3-1 lead through the first two innings of play, but saw their bats go silent over the final five frames while the Tigers outscored the Falcons 6-0 the rest of the way to take home the victory. -
CMS Lady Bulldogs take down Forrest (High School Sports ~ 03/19/14)
The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (9-3) dealt Forrest Middle School their first loss of the season on Friday afternoon when they defeated the Lady Rockets 9-5 at home. Having lost to FMS 9-8 in their season opener on Feb. 25, the Lady Bulldogs were locked in a 2-2 tie with Forrest (11-1-1) through the first three and a half innings of play before exploding for five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 7-2 lead. -
LMS Tigerettes sweep Spring Hill (High School Sports ~ 03/19/14)
The Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes (7-1) completed the regular season sweep of Spring Hill by defeating the Lady Generals 8-3 at home on Thursday afternoon. Spring Hill hung tough for much of the contest and were locked in a 3-3 tie with LMS through the first four and a half innings of play. The Tigerettes, however, pulled away from the Lady Generals down the stretch and pushed across five runs over the next two innings en route to recording their fifth straight victory. -

By Karen Hall Editor Last week in Circuit Court, Rodney Lee Harris, 33, of Harris Cemetery Road, Chapel Hill, pleaded guilty to the charge of criminal attempt to initiate the process of manufacturing methamphetamine. This was reduced from the charge on which Harris was indicted, which was initiation of the process to manufacture methamphetamine. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of a Schedule II drug, but these charges were dismissed...

He was Drew Piper, the son of Ben Piper and a student in Tara Stacey's class. Supervisor of Elementary Instruction Tammy Lewis said there were six spellers left going into Round 10 of the state bee, with Drew, at 10 years old, the youngest.
