Falcons top Tigers (High School Sports ~ 04/16/14)
Lincoln County (11-13) salvaged a split of the regular season series with the Marshall County Tigers (13-5) by defeating MCHS 5-2 in six innings on Friday night at Joe George Field. The Tigers had beaten the Falcons 7-3 in their previous encounter on March 15 and held a 1-0 lead through the first two innings of play in Friday's contest, but Lincoln County outscored MCHS 5-1 over the next four frames to seize a 5-2 advantage before the game was called in the bottom of the sixth due to heavy thunderstorms. -

Columbia Central (8-14) completed the season sweep of Cornersville on Friday night when they defeated the Lady Bulldogs 6-3 at CHS. Having dropped a 7-6 decision to the Lady Lions in their last encounter on March 24, the Lady Bulldogs (7-6) battled Columbia to a 3-3 tie through the first six innings of play. -

The Forrest Lady Rockets turned in a solid showing last weekend at the Raptor Classic in Brentwood, going 2-2 with a pair of run-rule wins over CPA and Page, while losing two one run games to Waverly Central and Creekwood. Forrest opened up pool play Friday night, thrashing CPA 10-0 before taking on Class AA Waverly Central in game two. The District 11-AA Lady Tigers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before a pair of base hits by Jordan Yelensky and Kiyoko Puca set up a three-run homerun by Katie Warrick, tying the game at 3. -
Tigerettes pound Page (High School Sports ~ 04/16/14)
On Thursday, the Marshall County Tigerettes (6-9, 3-4 District) reeled off their fourth straight victory when they traveled to Franklin and pummeled the Page Lady Patriots 11-1 in five innings. Marshall County held a 2-1 lead through the first two innings of play, but they saw their bats catch fire and outscored Page 9-0 over the next three frames to bring the mercy rule into effect. -
Rockets sweep County Border Battle (High School Sports ~ 04/16/14)
The Forrest Rockets continued their torrid streak over the weekend, beating Collinwood, Huntington, and Perry County to complete the sweep of the County Border Battle in Chapel Hill. The Rockets came into the tournament on a high note, winning nine out of their last 10 ballgames and they needed some late game heroics versus Collinwood on Friday to keep the hot streak alive. -
Mustangs' 6-run blast ends Bulldogs' hopes (High School Sports ~ 04/16/14)
On Thursday, the Cornersville Bulldogs (11-7) lost their second straight game when they dropped a 10-6 decision to the Loretto Mustangs (9-8) at home. The two teams were locked in a 4-4 tie through the first three innings of play, but the Mustangs erupted for six runs in the top of the fourth to grab a 10-4 lead before fending off a late rally attempt by the Bulldogs.
