The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs captured the third seed in the District 11-A tournament by defeating Mt. Pleasant 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon at home to earn a split of the season series with the Lady Tigers. After losing to Mt. Pleasant 4-2 in their previous encounter on March 27, Cornersville (15-10, 5-5 District) needed to beat the Lady Tigers (7-13, 5-5 District) by three or more runs in Wednesday's contest in order to win the tie breaker between the two teams, but held just a 2-1 lead through the first four innings of play. -

The Forrest Lady Rockets finished the regular season in style, celebrating Senior Night with a 10-1 win over Eagleville at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill Wednesday night. "I am pleased our seniors got to play and we finished up our district games," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. "We did OK once we got rolling with the bats, Ricky (Stinnett) had to get a little short fused there, but we got rolling and got the job done and I hope we can build on that tomorrow." -

The FMS Rockets continued their dominance of the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament winning their fifth title in the last six years and this time they did it with high drama, sweeping top-seeded Fayetteville 3-2 and 12-1 at Liberty Middle School. "I have to give the boys all the credit in the world, they fought the entire tournament," said FMS head coach Bart Joyce. "They just never gave up and ended winning in a big way the last two games."
