On Friday, the Marshall County Tigers (18-11) saw their season come to an abrupt end when they lost a pair of District tournament games at Christ Presbyterian Academy. After falling 9-4 to the second seeded CPA Lions (22-10) in the second round of the tournament, the Tigers were forced to make a quick turnaround and dropped a 1-0 decision to the Cascade Champions (19-13) in the loser's bracket later that evening. -

The Marshall County Tigers (8-6-1) turned in an inspired performance on the pitch this past Friday when they went on the road and defeated the Spring Hill Raiders 2-1 in the first round of the District 12-A-AA tournament. Having whipped MCHS 7-2 in their lone regular season encounter on April 22, Spring Hill appeared they might be headed towards another easy win after jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the opening seconds of Friday's contest. -

The top-seeded Forrest Rockets, coming off a bye in the first-round of the District 9-A Tournament, narrowly escaped an upset bid by No. 4 MTCS Friday night in Chapel Hill when they broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning that held up in a 5-3 win. "We got tee-shirts made up that say District 9-A is the SEC of Class-A baseball and I think every baseball game that has been played in the tournament show far has proved that and this one did too," said Forrest head coach Chris Parker. "I knew we have been through some adversity and I knew we would battle back and now we have to go do everything we can do to get the next one, because that guarantees us a spot in the region." -

On Friday, the Marshall County Tigerettes (14-13) overcame their first hurdle in the playoffs when they defeated the fifth seeded Page Lady Patriots 7-0 at home in the opening round of the District 12-AA tournament. With Friday's win, the Tigerettes recorded their 15th straight win over Page and climbed over the .500 mark for the first time this season. -

The Marshall County Tigers (18-9) had to scratch and claw to pick up a win in the first round of the District 12-AA tournament, as they defeated the Cascade Champions 6-5 in eight innings on Thursday night at home. Cascade (18-12) held a 5-4 lead through the first six and a half innings of play, but the Tigers pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the contest at 5-5. -
Lady Bulldogs blitz Culleoka (High School Sports ~ 05/07/14)
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (16-10) breezed into the second round of the District 11-A tournament by crushing the Culleoka Lady Warriors 10-0 in six innings on Thursday afternoon at Columbia Academy in their opening game of the tourney. Bolstered by a four-run first inning, the Lady Bulldogs banged out 11 hits overall against Culleoka starting pitcher Mariah Delk to go along with three walks and one Lady Warrior error. -

The Forrest Rockets needed to beat Community in Monday night's all-important winner's bracket match-up to gain the upper hand in the District 9-A Tournament, but the Vikings ruined the plan when Darian Pride belted a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning, propelling the Unionville squad to a 2-1 win. Forrest played Middle Tennessee Christian School in the loser's bracket final Tuesday night, hoping for a win and another chance at the Vikings, who now hold all the cards, needing just one more win to take the district tournament crown. -

Giles County (16-6) knocked the Marshall County Tigerettes (14-14) into the loser's bracket of the District 12-AA tournament when they defeated MCHS 3-1 in the second round on Monday night in Pulaski. Having split the season series with the top seeded Lady Bobcats, the Tigerettes trailed just 1-0 through the first four innings of play, but Giles County tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to open up a 3-0 advantage before claiming their 16th win of the season. -

After belting MTCS 15-0 in three innings in Thursday's District 9-A Tournament opener in Chapel Hill, the Forrest Lady Rockets came back with a tough 3-0 second-round win over a pesky Huntland squad Saturday in Lynchburg. "We have got to do better, we weren't pleased with our hitting at all, but give that little pitcher (Huntland's Tara Cates) credit, she did a good job, keeping us off balance," said Cheatham. "But, we shot ourselves in the foot a few times, when we should have been breaking things open, so we have got to do better Tuesday if we expect to advance." -

fter receiving a first round bye, the Cornersville Bulldogs (15-11) began defense of their District 11-A tournament title by defeating tourney host Mt. Pleasant 12-2 in six innings on Saturday afternoon to notch their sixth straight win over the Tigers. Mt. Pleasant (12-18) held a 2-1 lead through the first three innings of play, but the Bulldogs eventually got their offense on track and scored 11 runs over the next three frames to claim the mercy rule shortened victory.
