The Marshall County Tigerettes (15-14) stayed alive in the District 12-AA tournament by going on the road and crushing the Cascade Lady Champions 12-2 on Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the loser's bracket. Cascade had swept the season series against MCHS, but the Tigerettes showed that they had vastly improved since that time and jumped out to 6-0 lead in the top of the second inning. -

The Forrest Rockets turned Monday's misfortune into a Tuesday sweep, beating MTCS 3-2 in the District 9-A loser's bracket final before claiming a dramatic 3-2 win over Community in the nightcap, setting up a winner take all contest Wednesday night versus the Vikings in Chapel Hill. Bryce Oliver's two-out eighth inning pinch hit RBI single capped off a wild game versus Community, who could have claimed the hardware with a win. -

The Forrest Lady Rockets do not like being number two and they made a big stride towards being number one again when they beat Moore County 5-3 in Tuesday night's District 9-A Tournament winner's bracket final in Lynchburg. "It was a very good game, I wish we could have played a little cleaner, but you know what, we had the willpower to get it done and that's what counts, we got the 'W'," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. "I am pleased with their effort and I want them to come right back tomorrow with more determination and hold them down." -
Bulldogs hold off Columbia Academy in tournament (High School Sports ~ 05/09/14)
n Tuesday night, the Cornersville Bulldogs (16-11) advanced to the District 11-A tournament championship game by defeating top seeded Columbia Academy 4-3 in the third round at Mt. Pleasant High School. Having split the regular season series with CA, the Bulldogs got off to a fast start and built a 4-0 lead through the first three and a half innings of play. Columbia Academy (18-10-1) sliced the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning, but staff ace David Looney carried Cornersville to the finish line by snuffing out two CA scoring threats over the final three frames to help CHS hold on for the one-run victory. -
Page stuns Tigerettes, ends season (High School Sports ~ 05/09/14)

Page knocked the Marshall County Tigerettes (15-15) out of the District 12-AA tournament on Wednesday afternoon, as MCHS dropped a 3-1 decision to the Lady Patriots at home in the second round of the loser's bracket. The Tigerettes had won the last 15 meetings between the two teams and had outscored Page 26-6 in three games this season, but the Lady Patriots didn't seemed phased by the recent history of the series on Wednesday and held a 1-0 lead through the first four and a half innings of play. -

The Forrest Rockets (26-11) had to settle for second place in the District 9-A tournament for the second straight year after dropping a hard fought 9-7 decision to the Community Vikings (20-15) in the championship game on Wednesday night in Chapel Hill. Having already split four one-run games this season, the Rockets and Vikings were embroiled in another tight battle on Wednesday and played to a 7-7 tie through the first five and a half innings of play. -
