CA tops Bulldogs in title tilt (High School Sports ~ 05/14/14)
After suffering a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Columbia Academy earlier in the day, the Cornersville Bulldogs (16-13)were denied their second straight District 11-A tournament title when they dropped a 9-3 decision to CA in the championship game on Thursday night at Mt. Pleasant School. The two teams were locked in a 1-1 tie through the first three innings of play, but Columbia Academy (21-10-1) broke the game open by crossing home plate seven times over the next three frames to forge an 8-1 lead en route to claiming the title. -

On Thursday afternoon, the Cornersville Bulldogs (16-12) missed a chance to claim their second straight District 11-A tournament title when they suffered a gut wrenching 5-4 loss to Columbia Academy in the championship round at Mt. Pleasant High School. Needing to win just one of two games on Thursday to take home the title, Cornersville appeared to be on the cusp of claiming the championship after taking a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning. -

The Forrest Rockets showed some serious guts Monday night in the Region 6-A semifinals at Nashville Christian School as they came away with a 3-0 win over the Eagles, setting up a Battle Royal in the region title game Tuesday night versus archrival Community in Unionville. Forrest ace Logan Hollingsworth turned in a solid clutch performance on the mound for the Rockets, scattering five hits in the 90-pitch, complete-game shutout, while walking one and striking out three Nashville Christian batters in the contest. -

After sweeping through the District 9-A Tournament, the Forrest Lady Rockets faced a stiff opponent in Nashville Christian School Monday night in the opening round of the Region 6-A Tournament at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill and the hometown girls needed every ounce of desire they could muster in a dramatic 8-7 win in eight innings.
