Elks pound A-Plus Collision Center (High School Sports ~ 05/30/14)
On Tuesday night, the Elks (5-1) showed that they aren't going to relinquish their crown without a fight, as the defending champs whipped a previously undefeated A-Plus Collision Center squad 12-4 in six innings to move into a tie for first place in the Marshall County Babe Ruth League standings. APCC (5-1) actually finished with a 7-5 advantage in hits, but committed six costly errors, which led to nine of the Elks' 12 runs. Will Johnson led the Elks at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a RBI and three runs scored, while Jay Lyons (3 RBI), Gage Anderson (1 RBI), and Nathan Thomason each had one hit. -
Nichirin rallies past Marshall Medical (High School Sports ~ 05/30/14)
Nichirin picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday night when they rallied to defeat Marshall Medical Center 10-8 in six innings to avenge an 8-7 loss to MMC eight days earlier. Similar to their previous encounter, Marshall Medical Center (1-5) got off to a fast start and raced out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning before taking a 7-2 advantage into the bottom of the fourth. -

Spartans double hook Mudcats (High School Sports ~ 05/30/14)
The Middle Tennessee Mudcats continued their slow start, dropping a pair of games to Summit Wednesday night in Chapel Hill to fall to 0-4 in the summer campaign. In game one, the Spartans won 9-0 in five innings as three Summit pitchers combined to no-hit the Mudcats. Southpaw Zack Mather started on the hill for Summit and allowed just one base runner via an error in his two innings of work to pick up the win. -
