Elks blow out Nichirin (High School Sports ~ 06/06/14)
The Elks (6-1) reeled off their fourth straight win on Monday night when they thrashed Nichirin 12-1 in four innings at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Park to maintain a share of first place in the Marshall County Babe Ruth League standings. Bolstered by a six run first inning, the Elks finished with eight hits and five walks against Nichirin starting pitcher Hunter Haurez and reliever Jacob Autry. Ben Taylor led the Elks offensive attack by going 3-for-3 with a double, a RBI, and three runs scored. Jay Lyons (3 RBI), Mitchell Ford (2 RBI), shortstop Austin Wood (1 RBI), starting pitcher Will Johnson ( 1 RBI), and Gage Anderson each notched one hit for the Elks as well. -
A-Plus Collision defeats Marshall Medical Center (High School Sports ~ 06/06/14)
After watching the Elks win earlier in the evening, A-Plus Collision Center (6-1) kept pace with their fellow Marshall County Babe Ruth League co-leader by defeating a mistake prone Marshall Medical Center squad 8-5 in six innings on Monday night. APCC held a 4-2 lead through the first five innings of play before breaking the game open by plating four runs in the top of the sixth to forge an 8-2 advantage. -
A-Plus Collision Center plows through Nichirin (High School Sports ~ 06/06/14)
On Tuesday evening, A-Plus Collision Center (7-1) defeated Nichirin (1-7) for the third time this season when they rolled to a 12-1 victory in four innings to remain in a tie for first place with the Elks in the Marshall County Babe Ruth League Standings. Bolstered by six-run fourth inning, APCC finished with nine hits and five walks against Nichirin starting hurler Hunter Bradford and reliever Quinten Martinez. Nichirin's defense also did their pitching staff no favors by committing five errors, which led to six of A-Plus Collision Center's 12 runs. -
Late Comeback propels Elks past Marshall Medical Center (High School Sports ~ 06/06/14)
The Elks (7-1) staved off a potential upset bid by Marshall Medical Center on Tuesday night when they rallied for a 9-5 victory at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Park after overcoming a late two-run deficit. MMC (1-7) appeared to have the defending Marshall County Babe Ruth League champs on the ropes and held a 3-1 lead through the first five innings of play. The Elks, however, came storming back in the bottom of the sixth and exploded for eight runs in the frame to seize a 9-3 lead before taking home the four-run victory. -

The Marshall County Dusters (6-2) notched their third straight win on Wednesday afternoon when they defeated the Ravenwood Hawks 9-5 at home in the first game of a doubleheader. avenwood salvaged a split of a doubleheader with the Marshall County Dusters by pulling out a 6-5 victory in the second game at Joe George Field. Playing five innings instead of the usual seven, the Dusters (6-3) appeared to be in control of the game after building a 5-0 lead through the first three frames. Marshall County, however, stumbled down the stretch, as the Hawks crossed home plate six times over the final two frames to escape with the one-run victory. -
Mudcats sweep Spring Hill (High School Sports ~ 06/06/14)
The Middle Tennessee Mudcats sizzled in the summer heat at Spring Hill Tuesday, coming away with a hard earned double-header sweep (6-4, 9-3) to even their record at 5-5. The Mudcats opened the twin bill being held scoreless for three innings by Spring Hill pitcher Zack King, who held a 2-0 lead before leaving in the top of the fourth when Middle Tennessee came up with three runs. Alex Brewer got things going for the Mudcats, lashing a leadoff triple before Zach Harrison beaned Austin Harmon, who promptly stole second base. -
