Five Points VFD holds supper, straw poll

Following their 8-6 win over Lincoln County earlier in the evening, the Marshall County Dusters ran their record to 2-0 in pool play at the End of Summer Bash by defeating tournament co-host Tullahoma 11-3 in four innings on Friday night. After building a 3-1 lead through the first two innings of play, the Dusters (22-9) blew the game open by pushing across eight runs in the top of the third to forge an 11-1 advantage before the game was called due to time restraints at the end of the fourth. -
Dusters fend off Falcons (Community Sports ~ 07/16/14)
The Marshall County Dusters (21-9) opened the End of Summer Bash by defeating the Lincoln County Falcons 8-6 in five innings on Friday night at Tullahoma High School. Marshall County appeared they might turn the game into a rout early on after racing out to an 8-1 lead in the top of the second inning, but the Falcons clawed their way back into the contest by plating five runs in the bottom of the second to whittle the deficit to 8-6. -

After a big come-from-behind 5-2 win in Friday night's opening round of the 13U Babe Ruth State Tournament, the Marshall County Storm fizzled out, dropping a pair of run-rule games on Saturday that ended their tournament appearance. The host Storm fell 14-3 in five innings to Putnam County in a winner's bracket contest before being eliminated 15-4 by Bellevue in the same amount of innings. -

After posting a perfect 3-0 record in pool play, the Marshall County 10U All-Stars opened bracket play in the USGF Recreational World Series softball tournament by defeating Fine Line Lawn Care 8-1 in three innings on Saturday afternoon at Ridley Park in Columbia. Bolstered by a five-run first inning, Marshall County finished with seven hits and three walks overall. Jessa Lancaster (3 RBI) and Hannah Wallace (2 RBI) both tallied two hits to lead Marshall County's offensive attack, while Addison Bunty (1 RBI), Taylor Pickle (1 RBI), and Anna Davis notched one hit apiece. -
Whaley, Anderson lift storm over Grassland (Community Sports ~ 07/16/14)
The Marshall County Storm opened up play in the 13U Babe Ruth Tournament Friday night and needed a dramatic come from behind effort to knock off Grassland 5-2 at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Field in Lewisburg. Storm hurler Grayson Whaley surrendered two unearned runs in the top of the first inning before blanking the Franklin squad the remainder of the contest to pick up a big complete game win for manager Mike Mills' squad. -
10U Stars win third tournament (Community Sports ~ 07/16/14)
On Saturday night, the Marshall County 10U All-Stars captured their third tournament title of the summer when they defeated the McMinnville Aftershock 4-3 in four innings at Ridley Park in the championship game of the USGF Recreational World Series. The Aftershock jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Marshall County battled back and tallied three runs over the next two frames to pull ahead 3-2. -
6U All-Stars win in Tullahoma (Community Sports ~ 07/16/14)
