LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- (Aug. 6, 2014) Johan Kok of Brentwood, Tennessee, is already a winner, and hasn't even started his opening round at the 96th PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. The PGA general manager at Temple Hills Country Club in Franklin, Tennessee, Kok placed third in the Long Drive Competition on Tuesday evening, hitting his drive on the par-5 10th hole 337 yards in the fairway. -

The Forrest golf team opened their prep sports season with a pair of wins, beginning with a 187-217 win at Fayetteville, before coming up with a close 177-184 over Cornersville Tuesday at Henry Horton State Park. "It's always nice to get a 'W', so getting two in a row is even better," said Forrest coach Jeremy Jean. Junior Gary Lukonen provided the anchor in both matches, shooting a 44 at Pebble Creek in Fayetteville and the state tournament participant from last season came back with a smooth 2-over-par 38 on the Rockets' home course in Chapel Hill. -
Tiger golfers defeat Forrest (High School Sports ~ 08/08/14)
On Wednesday afternoon, the Marshall County Tigers (4-0) handed Forrest their first loss of the season on the links when they defeated the Rockets (2-1) at the Lewisburg Recreation Center in the "It's Time" Tournament, which celebrates the first day of school for local students. Marshall County had three players shoot 40 or better over nine holes and posted a team score of 162 after taking the top four rounds from six golfers. Although Forrest junior Gary Lukonen turned in the best round of the match, the Rockets could not match the depth of the Tigers' lineup and finished 18 strokes back with a 180. -
FMS Rockets win battle in Wartrace (High School Sports ~ 08/08/14)
The FMS Rockets kicked off the prep football season on a high note, travelling to Cascade where they won a spirited 22-14 battle versus their longtime arch rivals. "There is not a better way to start the season," said Forrest head coach Bart Joyce. "Any time you come over to Cascade and get a win with a rival like that it is a great win and a great feeling. I'm proud of all these boys, they worked hard all summer long and it finally paid off tonight." The Rockets won the battle in the trenches, rushing for a tough 154 yards on 35 carries.
