Tigers sweep four-team match (High School Sports ~ 08/29/14)
Coming off their worst performance of the season a day earlier, the Marshall County Tigers (11-3) returned to form on the links this past Tuesday when they won a four-team match against the Lincoln County Falcons, the Spring Hill Raiders, and the Hickman County Bulldogs at Saddle Creek Golf Course. Aided by another strong performance by junior Zach Smith, the Tigers posted a team score of 164 after playing the front nine holes at Saddle Creek. Lincoln County finished just one stroke off the pace and placed second with a 165, while Spring Hill came in third with a 174. Hickman County rounded out the field with a 190. -

After dropping a 3-0 decision to Wayne County in their season opener four days earlier, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs fell to 0-2 on the pitch when they suffered a 10-0 road loss on Monday night to a powerful Columbia Academy squad that has outscored its first three opponent's this year by a grand total of 29-0. Having defeated Cornersville handily twice last season, CA continued that theme in Monday's contest and raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first half before tacking on four more goals in the first 29 minutes of the second stanza to forge a 10-0 advantage. -

The Forrest girls' golf team defeated Eagleville 108-113 Monday at the Buford Ellington Golf Course inside Henry Horton State Park to remain unbeaten on the season at 5-0. "The girls also have improved this year," said Forrest coach Jeremy Jean. "They really need to focus on their midrange game and putting. If they can do those things, the team could make it to the region." Caitlin Burt led the Lady Rockets, shooting a 53 that included one par and four bogies 3,259-yard front nine layout. -
Franklin County tops Tigers again (High School Sports ~ 08/29/14)
Franklin County defeated the Marshall County Tigers (8-3) on the links for the second time this season when they came out on top in a three-team match against MCHS and the Lincoln County Falcons at the Bear Trace Golf Course in Winchester. The Rebels won going away and posted a team score of 163 after taking the top four scores from six players. Marshall County posted their worst score of the season, but still finished second in the match with a 185, while Lincoln County tallied a 188. -
LMS Tigers withstand challenge from Harris (High School Sports ~ 08/29/14)
Having blown out their first two opponents this season, the Lewisburg Middle Tigers (3-0) passed their first tough test of the 2014 campaign when they defeated the Harris Eagles 20-6 at home on Tuesday night. Harris (0-1) battled LMS to a 6-6 tie late in the second quarter before the Tigers scored a touchdown and tacked on a two-point conversion in the closing minutes of the stanza to take a 14-6 advantage into the break. -

Forrest's torrid start continued Tuesday night on the pitch in Chapel Hill as the Lady Rockets picked up a huge confidence-boosting win, knocking off Lincoln County 2-1. The Forrest Middle School Rockets played host to their namesakes from Manchester Thursday night at "The Rock" in Chapel Hill and after a close first half, the hometown boys pulled away for a 44-30 win to remain undefeated on the season at 4-0. FMS pounded the rock the entire game versus Westwood, rushing the ball 39 times for 454 yards as eighth-grader Wesley McCoy led the way with two long touchdown runs included in his ten totes of the pigskin that added up to 225 yards. -
