Forrest buries Cougars 49-14 (High School Sports ~ 10/29/14)
The Forrest Rockets needed the bye week as much as any squad in Class 2A and it paid off when a bevy of injured players healed up or returned to action to take part in a huge 49-14 blowout win Friday night at Murrey E. Holton Field in Chapel Hill over previously unbeaten and No. 7 ranked Middle Tennessee Christian School. "That was a huge statement game, anytime you can hold Middle Tennessee Christian to 14 points is huge," said Forrest head coach Matt Kriesky. "They are a very athletic team, so for our kids to come out and play the way they did, I'm proud of them. I can't say enough about them or what they did tonight, we've had some injuries and some ups and downs, but I think we are getting back on the right track where we started the season out and I am proud of each and every one of these kids." -

Hollingsworth runs to state (High School Sports ~ 10/29/14)
Despite being in its first year of existence, the Marshall County Tigerettes cross country team will be represented in the Class A-AA Girls State Championship Meet after freshman Leah Hollingsworth finished second in the Region 6-A-AA race on Thursday at Iroquois Steeplechase in Nashville. Thanks to Thursday's performance, Hollingsworth has finished in the top three in seven of the nine races that she has competed in this year while winning four of them. "I'm very proud of Leah. She's only a freshman so there is a lot of room for growth with her. Leah has a great work ethic and I expected her to do well today," said Marshall County coach Heather Denton. "We've still got to recruit the hallways and get some more kids out, but this should only help the program." Although this is the first year that she has participated in cross country, Hollingsworth is no stranger to competition and was a standout on the basketball and softball teams at Lewisburg Middle School the last two years.
