Columbia Academy breezes past CMS Bulldogs (High School Sports ~ 11/19/14)
The Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs (4-5) were unable to slow down an undefeated Columbia Academy squad on Thursday night, as lost 59-28 to CA at home. Columbia Academy (12-0) took control of the game early and built a 30-14 lead in the first half before outscoring CMS 29-14 over the final two quarters en route to sweeping the season series against Cornersville. -
FMS Lady Rockets fall to Cascade (High School Sports ~ 11/19/14)
The FMS Lady Rockets had trouble handling the ball and putting it in the basket versus Cascade and it resulted in a 40-22 loss in Chapel Hill Monday night. FMS fell to 4-6 in conference play and now embarks on a long trip, not returning to their home confines until the World Tournament in January. Rec Center hosts inaugural swim meet (High School Sports ~ 11/19/14)
The Lewisburg Recreation Center hosted their inaugural high school swim meet Thursday when swimmers from Marshall County High School, Forrest, and Cornersville continued their season by competing against Lincoln County, Lawrence County, and Fayetteville. It was the second meet of the season for the swimmers, who comprise the Marshall County Swim Team. The squad continued their winning ways with several top times. -
CMS Lady Bulldogs sweep Columbia Academy (High School Sports ~ 11/19/14)
The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (6-3) completed the season sweep of Columbia Academy (2-10) on Thursday night when they defeated CA 21-8 at home. Having beaten Columbia Academy 38-14 in their previous meeting on Oct. 28, the Lady Bulldogs once again had a relatively time with the Maury County private school, as they built a 13-2 lead in the first half before outscoring CA 8-6 over the final two periods to cruise to their sixth win of the season. -
FMS Rockets move to 10-0 in conference play (High School Sports ~ 11/19/14)
The FMS train continued to roll along in Chapel Hill as the Rockets came up with a 49-36 win over Cascade Monday night to remain unblemished in conference play. The FMS low post duo of Dylan Jones and Daniil Yatskov have been unstoppable so far this season and they continued their domination versus the Champions as both eighth-graders scored 16 points apiece in the contest. -
McGehee receives A.F. Bridges Award (High School Sports ~ 11/19/14)
Marshall County High School athletic director Kevin McGehee's hard work behind the scenes was recently recognized when he received the A.F. Bridges Athletic Director of the Year Award for the 2013-14 school year in District 6 earlier this month. While the head coach usually receives the praise for the success of their respective team, McGehee tries to make the coaches' job at MCHS easier by taking care of the other chores in the athletic department such as helping to assemble schedules and taking care of athletes' eligibility forms. McGehee is also a constant fixture at Marshall County athletic events and serves as the school administrator at most MCHS home games.
