Meridianville roughed up Lewisburg Middle School on the basketball court for the second time in four weeks, as the Lady Eagles defeated the Tigerettes 39-20 while the Eagles thumped the Tigers 61-30 on Tuesday night in Lewisburg. After losing 37-11 to Meridianville in their previous meeting on Nov. 11, the Tigerettes (4-5) put up a fight early on in Tuesday's contest and trailed just 8-6 at the end of the first quarter. -

Forrest lost their fourth straight game Tuesday night, falling at Summertown 61-57, but it wasn't with a lack of effort as the Rockets battled and battled through adversity before finally succumbing in the final moments of the game. "The guys battled tonight in a very tough place to play and I was very proud of the effort," said Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs. "We are still working to play a solid four quarters in the same game, tonight we played a great first and fourth quarters, but needed to do better in the second and third." -

Richland rallies past Bulldogs (High School Sports ~ 12/12/14)
It was a bittersweet night for Cornersville senior guard Tate Lowery. Although he broke the 1,000-point career scoring mark on Tuesday, Lowery suffered what appeared to be a severe knee injury late in the third quarter of the Bulldogs' 58-50 home loss to the Richland Raiders. After taking a 25-23 lead into halftime, Cornersville (0-5, 0-2 District) held a 36-35 advantage late in the third quarter before Lowery was forced to leave the game with :44 left in the stanza. -
Lady Bulldogs falter late vs. Richland (High School Sports ~ 12/12/14)
On Tuesday night, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs were dealt their first District loss of the season when they dropped a 46-38 decision to the Richland Lady Raiders at home. Richland (3-6, 3-0 District) held a 26-16 lead at the break, but the Lady Bulldogs (2-6, 1-1 District) came storming back in the second half and rallied to tie the game at 38-38 midway through the fourth quarter. -
LMS Tigers hand Whitthorne loss (High School Sports ~ 12/12/14)
On Monday night, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (6-2) completed the sweep of the season series against Whitthorne Middle School when they defeated WMS 59-39 at home. The Tigers steadily pulled away from Whitthorne, as they jumped out to a 29-19 lead through the first two quarters of play before outscoring WMS 30-20 in the second half to claim their sixth win of the season. -
Rockets round into post-season form (High School Sports ~ 12/12/14)
The Forrest Rocket wrestling squad faced some tough competition over the past 10 days, traveling to Eagleville on Dec. 2 where they lost a 42-42 tiebreaker to the Eagles before losing to Fairview 50-20. "We are gaining much needed mat time in these tournaments that hopefully will pay off in the long run," said Forrest head coach Kyle Stacey. "The Fairview match was a tough loss, but it gives us a measuring stick to go by. We know where we have to be at after Christmas break." -
LMS Tigerettes stop Whitthorne (High School Sports ~ 12/12/14)
The Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes (4-4) snapped a two-game losing streak on Monday night when they defeated Whitthorne Middle School 31-9 at home to complete the sweep of the season series. Having defeated WMS 29-8 in their previous meeting on Nov. 20, the Tigerettes once again had little trouble dispatching of their long time rival, as they built a 17-6 lead in the first half before outscoring Whitthorne 14-3 over the final two quarters to cruise to the22-point victory. -
FMS Rockets beat Cougars in coast-to-coast win (High School Sports ~ 12/12/14)
After a 46-36 win in Manchester on Monday, the FMS Rockets travelled to Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) on Thursday and handily beat the Cougars 46-34 in a coast-to-coast win, marking the 16th consecutive Duck River Valley Conference win in a row for Forrest this season. FMS can clinch the outright conference title with a win at Liberty (13-2) on Jan. 5, 2015 or in Lynchburg (3-12) on Jan. 8.
