It was tough sledding for both Cornersville basketball teams on Thursday night, as the Lady Bulldogs were drubbed 64-32 by the Huntland Lady Hornets on the road while the Bulldogs dropped a 76-47 decision to the Hornets in the nightcap. The Lady Hornets (11-5) stung Cornersville early and flew out to a 22-7 lead in the first quarter before outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 15-6 in the second period to open up a 37-13 advantage at halftime. -
Tigers punish Page (High School Sports ~ 01/14/15)
The Marshall County Tigers got some payback against District rival Page on Friday night when they defeated the Patriots 56-42 on Homecoming to record their fourth straight win. After knocking MCHS out of the District 12-AA tournament in the first round last year with a 92-86 upset victory in double overtime, Page gave Marshall County all they could handle early on in Friday's contest and trailed just 23-22 at the end of the first half. -
Tigerettes hold off Page to claim 1st district victory (High School Sports ~ 01/14/15)
Despite struggling to find their shooting stroke the entire night, the Marshall County Tigerettes picked up their first District win of the season on Friday when they defeated the Page Lady Patriots 35-31 on Homecoming. After the two teams battled to a 17-17 tie in the first half, the Tigerettes (5-11, 1-1 District) used a 13-7 run to seize a 30-23 lead early in the fourth quarter before staving off a late Page rally attempt to hang on for the four-point victory.
