E.O. Coffman (2-0) spoiled Donald Jean's debut as Forrest Middle School's new softball coach when they defeated the Lady Rockets 3-2 in five innings at Summertown. Forrest held a 2-0 lead at the end of the first inning, but the Lady Panthers pushed across three runs over the next two frames to seize a 3-2 advantage before holding the Lady Rockets scoreless the rest of the way to hold on for the win. -

E.O. Coffman (1-0) snapped the Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes' three-game winning streak on Saturday afternoon when the Lady Panthers thumped LMS 9-1 in four innings at Summertown. The Tigerettes (3-2) had scored a total of 32 runs over their previous three games, but saw their bats go silent against E.O. Coffman and mustered only two hits against two Lady Panther pitchers. -

The Marshall County Wrestling Club (MCWC) competed at the Tennessee State AAU Wrestling Tournament last Saturday in Cookeville. Over 1,000 wrestlers from across the state competed in the tournament with the MCWC walking away with five wrestlers placing in the top five. -

Summertown (3-0) snatched victory from the jaws of defeat on Saturday night, as the Lady Eagles rallied from a late three-run deficit to defeat the Forrest Middle School Lady Rockets 5-3 in five innings. Forrest (0-2) held a 3-0 lead through the first four innings of play, but Summertown came storming back in the top of the fifth and pushed across five runs in the frame to seize a 5-3 advantage. -

The Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes (3-1) reeled off their third straight win on Saturday afternoon when they crushed the South Lawrence Lady Stallions 16-1 in three innings at Summertown. After allowing one run in her last outing against Whitthorne five days earlier, LMS starting pitcher Brooklin Conger turned in another quality performance in the circle to pick up her second win of the season, as she yielded just one unearned run on one hit while notching three strikeouts and issuing no walks. -
Reese earns first win as Tigers knock out Knights (High School Sports ~ 03/11/15)
After helping to lead Marshall County's baseball program to numerous victories as an assistant coach over the last three decades, Mike Reese notched his first win as the head coach of the Tigers on Monday evening when MCHS (1-0) hammered the Hume-Fogg Knights 17-0 in five innings at Rose Park in Nashville. "It obviously feels good and I'm excited for the guys," said Reese. "It's always exciting to start the season with a win and I'm proud of the way the guys played. It was also nice to come up and play in a college ballpark. I think it was a good experience for our players." -

Damp weather makes scheduling games a nightmare In eight years as a sports writer I have never seen weather affect the spring sports season in the county like it has this year. This is by far the busiest portion of the prep sports calendar with baseball, softball, tennis, and boys' soccer making for wall-to-wall coverage from opening day of high school on March 9 to graduation day the third week in May.
