The Marshall County Tigers suffered a costly District loss on Wednesday afternoon when they dropped a 4-3 decision to last place Giles County at home in the first game of a doubleheader. Marshall County (7-10, 2-3 District) held a 3-2 lead through the first six innings of play, but the Bobcats (8-9, 1-4 District) seized a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh inning on the strength of a two-out, two-run double by Rob McMasters. -

A washout on Monday in Cornersville set up a doubleheader at Columbia Academy (CA) on Tuesday, giving the team able to sweep the twin bill the upper hand in the District 12-AA standings. After weeks of trying to play due to a myriad of weather related postponements, the county middle school softball rivalry between Forrest and Lewisburg Middle School finally resumed on Wednesday night in Chapel Hill. LMS, the defending conference tournament champions, was the home team on the scoreboard in the matchup, but it was the Lady Rockets who prevailed 8-1 on the Field of Dreams. -

Longtime assistant named Forrest basketball coach Randy Toombs has worn many different coaching hats in his long tenure in the Middle Tennessee school systems, but the 1979 Smyrna High graduate feels he has finally found the job he was searching for when he was named head coach for Forrest basketball.
