The Cornersville Bulldogs didn't let some early adversity unnerve them (12-7, 9-2 District), as they overcame a shaky start to defeat the Culleoka Warriors 12-2 at home in six innings on Monday night. Aided by three Cornersville errors, Culleoka (5-11, 3-5 District) held a 2-1 lead through the first two and a half innings of play, but the Bulldogs quickly righted the ship and outscored the Warriors 11-0 the rest of the way to claim their third straight win. -

The Forrest Lady Rockets, coming off a big weekend at the Lincoln County Border battle, returned to the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill Monday night where they run-ruled Columbia Central 11-1. "I was proud of our girls today, we were pretty solid all the way around," said Forrest coach Becky Cheatham. "I was happy we got almost everybody in the game." It was the third time this season that Forrest beat the Lady Lions. -

Cornersville senior pitcher Mary Taylor Hickman once again out dueled Mt. Pleasant staff ace Alyssa Lemay, as she tossed her fourth shutout of the season to lead the Lady Bulldogs (7-4, 5-1 District) to a 3-0 road victory over the Lady Tigers (11-8, 4-2 District) on Friday night. Thanks to Friday's triumph, Cornersville completed the sweep of the season series against Mt. Pleasant and moved into sole possession of second place in the District 11-A standings. -

Jimmy Nave's coaching stint as Forrest baseball coach lasted a little over seven months; he was fired last week. "I respect all the time and effort coach Nave gave to this program, he gave a hundred percent and is a professional," said Forrest principal Davy McClaran. "I just felt for the betterment of the program we needed to make a change at this time." Nave posted an 11-7 overall record and 5-3 in District 9-A play for the Rockets, who sat in a tie for second place in the league standings at press time. -
Edens inducted into Hall of Fame (High School Sports ~ 04/22/15)
Marshall County coaching legend Bob Edens was inducted into the Tennessee Secondary Sports Athletic Association (TSSAA) Hall of Fame on Saturday, but unfortunately Edens came down with a non-serious illness Friday night and was unable to attend the ceremony at the Embassy Suites conference center in Murfreesboro. Marshall County now has three members in the TSSAA Hall of Fame as Fred Shelton (1995) and Roy Dukes (2005) were inducted in the administrator category. -

Senior night sweet for Lady Rockets (High School Sports ~ 04/22/15)
There is no better way to honor your seniors than playing your best on your night in the spotlight. That is what the Forrest Lady Rockets accomplished on Tuesday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, sweeping Fayetteville and Huntland in a double header. Forrest banged out 33 hits in the two run-rule wins, pounding Fayetteville 12-2 before completely demolishing Huntland 15-0 in the nightcap.
