After suffering a pair of close losses to Cornersville during the regular season, the third time proved to be the charm for the Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers, as they defeated the Lady Bulldogs 3-1 at CHS on Friday evening in the second round of the District 11-A tournament. The two teams were locked in a scoreless tie through the first five innings of play, but Mt. Pleasant (14-10) finally broke the stalemate by scoring three runs in the top of the sixth to seize a 3-0 lead before holding off a Lady Bulldog rally attempt in the bottom of the seventh. -

After earning a bye in the first round of the District 9-A Tournament, the Forrest Rockets (17-8) took to the field on Saturday afternoon against the Community Vikings for a round two match-up and came away with an 11-1 run-rule win. Community eliminated the Rockets last season in the district tournament and it may not have showed on the player's faces, but last year's loss was looming in the back of some of their heads as they stepped onto the field Saturday. -

After scoring just two runs versus Community a few days earlier in the regular-season, the Forrest Lady Rockets blasted the Viqueens 13-2 in the second round of the District 9-A Tournament in Unionville on Saturday. Freshman pitcher Mikaela King helped Cornersville keep its season alive, as she tossed her first career shutout to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 13-0 victory over the Culleoka Lady Warriors in five innings on Monday night in the first round of the District 11-A tournament loser's bracket. Thanks to Monday's triumph, Cornersville (11-7) recorded their 21st straight win over Culleoka (1-12) and advanced to play Santa Fe in the second round of the loser's bracket on Tuesday evening. -

Giles County (11-4-1) eliminated Marshall County's soccer team from the playoffs on Friday night when the Bobcats defeated the Tigers 2-0 in the first round of the District 12-A-AA tournament at Sam Davis Park in Pulaski. Having beaten MCHS 3-1 in their lone regular season encounter, Giles County held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half in Friday's contest before tacking on an insurance goal late in the second stanza to claim their fourth straight win over the Tigers. -

The Marshall County Tigers had a tough road to travel Monday night in Spring Hill, having to win two games to advance to the District 12-AA title game. Then the Raiderettes watched as King blasted a pair of long home runs and drove in six runs in the Lady Rockets' 15-3 run-rule win that put Forrest one win away from the district title, while earning the Chapel Hill girls a berth in the Region 5-A Tournament.
