Forrest eighth-grader Wesley McCoy recently represented the Marshall County Wrestling Club (MCWC) and Team Tennessee at the Lee Pamulak Middle School National Duals in Des Moines, Iowa. McCoy took home a fourth-place trophy at the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) event, posting a 5-3 record in the 160-pound weight class, wrestling opponents from Montana, Illinois, Wyoming, Nebraska and Alabama. -

Summertown (29-8) captured its third straight Region 6-A tournament championship on Wednesday night when the Eagles defeated the Cornersville Bulldogs 10-0 in five innings at CHS. Despite Wednesday's setback, the Bulldogs (18-10) still advance to the Sectional round of the playoffs where they will take on county rival Forrest tonight in Chapel Hill, while Summertown will host Region 5-A runner-up Nashville Christian. -

The fun was a no-hitter by senior Tanner Garvin and a 6-0 win that earned Forrest a state sectional game at Chapel Hill Friday night versus county rival Cornersville, who lost 10-0 at home to Summertown. -
Surgery ends Minor's season

ATLANTA (AP) -- Braves lefthander Mike Minor will miss the rest of the season after shoulder surgery. The team announced Thursday that Minor underwent surgery the previous day in Los Angeles to repair the labrum in his left shoulder. He is expected to return for the start of spring training next year.
