Rockets give away OT thriller (High School Sports ~ 12/11/15)
Forrest desperately wanted a win and it was in their hands all night versus MTCS Tuesday at Chapel Hill, but it did not come to fruition for the Rockets, who fell 56-54 in overtime. Forrest led at the end of each of the first three quarters and increased its lead to the largest of the night in the fourth quarter until collapsing to let the Cougars tie the game and send it into overtime where they prevailed. -

Tuesday night in Lewisburg saw two of the most storied girls programs in Middle Tennessee mix it up on the Dottie Kelso memorial Gymnasium hardwood with Shelbyville Central taking down Marshall County 68-39. The Central Golden Eagles (3-4) have 12 state championships, six state runner-up finishes, and have produced six Miss Basketballs, while the Tigerettes (0-5) have taken home four gold balls, one runner-up finish, and one Miss Basketball. -

Shelbyville Central ran into a Marshall County team looking to prove to themselves that they were better than the team that lost big to Chattanooga Brainerd on Saturday and the Tigers proved that Saturday was a fluke, beating the 3A Golden Eagles 61-51. "I think we gave a little better effort, the kids tried tonight I felt like," MCHS coach Arnett Bodenhamer said. "We didn't capitalize on what we were trying to do. We've got to drive the ball more and we've got to be more aggressive on the glass." -

For Chapel Hill native and former Forrest Rocket footballer and wrestler Jason Buchanan, that moment came on September 20, 2009 when his mom, Kathy Savage Williams passed away. -
FMS hoopsters sweep Huntland in regular season finale (High School Sports ~ 12/11/15)
The Forrest Middle School girls capped off a big regular season Thursday night at Chapel Hill, beating Huntland 48-38. "We wanted to finish the season as best as we could and I think we finished pretty strong tonight," FMS coach David Junkins said. "We have come a long way from that first game, the regular season has been highly successful and we hope to carry that into the post-season. Our long term goal has always been to bring the "Duck" back to Chapel Hill."
